Course Curriculum Overview

5

I have choosed economic honsours as my course because in todays world it's one of the most demanded courses in the privatized field and it gives you a lot of opportunities by diving into various fields such as economist, data analyst, researcher etc. Economics in todays world is one of the most choosed course and in this course we read about the world economics not specified to a country it brief us about the economic problems and how the problems should be solved . I think the course could be better understood if we study all the different cases on the ground level for better understanding and concepts building. Exams will he held at the end of each semesters but unlike other courses the exams are quite difficult so one need to focus more on concept and practical knowledge.

Internships Opportunities

3

Our college has it's own societies for internship i.e Encode which provide internship for the student, both paid and free internships are available for the student that can help them to build their c.v and can boost up their skills and help them learn new things.

Placement Experience

3

Our college provides a decent amount of placement of annual package ranging from 6-7 lakh. But most of the students don't opt for placement after completing their post graduation 80% of the students apply for their higher education either they would opt for masters in their field or would choose doing MBA or any other masters course.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure at Shaheed bhagat singh college varies from course to course ranging between 15-18k annually. It can also varies for different caste students as they can use their caste certificate and get some relaxation on their course fees.

Campus Life

3

Here you can find a lot number of clubs or society to join, here you can also participate in different sports and play for the college team, and here we also have culture fest but only for college students. In our college there are auditorium classrooms at c block with air conditioner. Here we have 2 library for both evening and morning students with air conditioner and plenty amount of books.

Admission

For the course economic honours i have applied to Srcc, sbsc, arsd, and few other colleges i couldn't make into Srcc because of the cut off but on the other hand i have chosen sbsc as my college because it has a better infrastructure then most of the south campus colleges and few of the north campus colleges. Courses wise it is the second best college for economics after Srcc and we have a very large faculty that helps us in better understanding. You can get here easily by securing 650+ marks if you are in the general category.

Faculty

4

Faculty at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College is one of the best faculties among DU colleges. You will get one of the best teachers here those who have mastered their subjects. Most of the teachers have done Ph.D in their respective fields. Teachers here are mostly friendly and help the students in their off time. One of the best things about the faculty is that there is large number of teachers for each course that provides students a variation in their learning throughout their college years. I personally liked our maths teacher who teaches us M.M.E he is Dr Amit sharma who is an excellent teacher and person and the other faculty member i liked was Miss pallavi who teaches us statistic for the 1 semester. Here we have 2 exams annually one for each semester and we have tests and assignment for the internal exams.

Night Life

3

At sbsc we dont have hostel so students here from other state or far off places opt for pg or flat for 3-4 years. They can enjoy their night life by going on rides and visiting various places. Our college is open around 10 pm as it is for both morning and evening students but the library closes at 8 pm.

Other Applied Colleges

Shri Ram College of Commerce - [SRCC] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Economics)

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
