IIT Roorkee review

Positive: You will be having a very good exposure because every student in iit is good at something, you will be learning a lot from each of your friends. Negative: Food is not so good. You have to adjust.

Regarding the Course Curriculum it is of a good standard but the only thing I feel some courses are outdated and need to be updated laying more emphasis on courses that the industry needs presently. Regarding the exam structure, some weightage is allotted for MTE(mid term exam ) , ETE(end term exam), and also for tutorials and practicals. Weightage varies from course to course. All the exams are of paper-based.

Regarding On-campus placements they are excellent. Almost 90 percent of the serious candidates preparing for on-campus placements get placed. Around 250 companies visited our campus this year and there were around 1000 offers. Regarding the internship around 71 companies visited this year for hiring interns and there are 300 offers for an internship. IIT Roorkee also introduced SPARK to provide paid research internships for interested students. Regarding me i couldn't get an on-campus internship, i applied for an off-campus internship in a start-up, and its an unpaid one. But if we join the spark program of IIT Roorkee you will be getting around 2500 rupees per week.

We have mainly three fests celebrated in our college, 1) Thomso (Cultural Fest) There will be mostly cultural activities like dance and we can have a lot of fun. 2)Cognizance(Technical Fest) Technical Workshops will be conducted. 3) Sangram (Sports Fest)

Regarding the fee structure, it is changed from juniors onwards. But MCM scholarship will be provided for students belonging to low-income backgrounds.

Our college has very good facilities for extracurricular activities as well as sports. We have coaches for every sport and if you do well you can participate in inter iit sports competition also. We also have many groups for dramatics, singing, dancing, etc.

Regarding Hostel facilities, they are of average level. You will be provided spacious rooms, a bed, a chair as well as a table. The hostel is mandatory. Regarding food, you have to adjust because no food can match your mom's food. But you have many food stalls outside the college where you can eat when you think of having something special food.

Senior students are very helpful. They guide you about the different opportunities in the college. Regarding the alumni, since our college is a very old college, we have a very good alumni network. They do help students in getting internships if there are openings in their companies.

The admission procedure into all iits for the btech program is the same. At first, there was a preliminary exam called JEE MAIN. From JEE MAIN around 1.5 lakh people will be qualified for jee advanced. Cut off for jee main will be different for SC/OBC/ST/GEN. Then those qualified in jee main will be eligible to write jee advanced which is conducted by any iit. Then based on the rank in jee advanced we will be alloted the course.

According to my the faculty of my college are good. They are always ready to help you clear your doubts. You can contact them after class hours as well. But one thing I feel is only a few professors really encourage students to pursue a research career and guide them to pursue a research career.
