- The campus: The campus is very huge with an area of 625 acres.
- The Co-curricular clubs: Like ML club, coding club, robotics club etc.
- Good faculty: Few teachers were really good.
Dislikes
- Some Teachers: Few teachers taught horribly, we couldn't understand what they were teaching.
- Decreasing placements: Last year, the topmost branch CSE had only 74%placements
- Mess: Mess food is not very good, but edible
Course Curriculum Overview
I was very interested in Mechanical from the very childhood, so I chose mechanical engineering over other branches. Our curriculum prepares us for the real-world applications or further academic pursuits
Internships Opportunities
Various companies visit the campus for internships, among them TCS, Infosys, Wipro, L&T are worth noting. Depending upon the roles offered by the companies, the stipend can vary, ranging from around 2000 Rs per month to around 30k per month
Placement Experience
From 6th semester onwards, students become eligible for internships and placements. Various companies visit the campus,few of them are TCS, Wipro, L&T, Infosys, etc.Last year , the highest package was around 52 LPA, while lowest ones went to 2-3 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tution fee=? 62,500 Admission fee=?11,000 Admission fee includes any other fee like lab fee, library fee , development fee etc. For those having income less than 5 lpa, Tution fee=?20,833 Various scholarships are also available for students belonging to poor economic backgrounds.
Campus Life
The annual technical fest, Tecnoesis, is held around November, while the annual cultural fest, Incandescence, is held around January-February. Our college has the Asia's largest digital library (though there is nothing digital inside).
Hostel Facilities
Each hostel room is 2 or 3 bedded. There will be the beds, an almirah, two tables and two chairs. Hostels are allotted on the day of admission itself. The hostel fee is ?21,000 and the mess fee is ?1500.
Admission
I got all Assam rank 36 in the CEE exam, so I got CSE in the state govt. engineering colleges and also in TU, but I chose NIT Silchar because it is an NIT , and also I was interested in Mechanical things.
Faculty
Few of the faculties were really good in teaching, like our D.K. Raju Sir(BEE), etc. Almost all faculties are quite approachable . There are mainly 4 exams in a semester: midsem, minor, class-test and endsem.
Interview Experience
There was no GD or PI during the time of admission. The admission to NIT Silchar is mainly based on the rank obtained in JEE main entrance exam . The hostels are also alloted on the basis of marks, Aryabhatta and BH-3.
Night Life
The campus has several cafes and restaurants in and around the campus. The campus is very safe to roam around at night, many are seen walking at night. But the shops are not open till late night.
