Course Curriculum Overview
Fom second year onwards, the course curriculum becomes more relevant to the degree. Although, I think it should be specific from 1st year only. We have to do mechanical labs even though it will not have any positive impact on our career.
Internships Opportunities
Generally internships are offered with the role of Junior software Developer, Software Tester and all. Big companies also do visit the college, like Google, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, JP Morgan and chase, etc.
Placement Experience
Placements of National Institute of Technology, Silchar is it's USP. Even in CoVID, it was able to keep the average package 19.01LPA, and median package 14LPA. After CoVID, placements have improved in the college. This year, a lot of seniors have made it to Google Internships and all. Other than Camus placements also, it has got great job oppurtunities as the alumni network is strong.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees for OBC Students in NIT Silchar is 92,166 for the first year. It decreases a bit for further years. There are several scholarships that are offered like NSP, Reliance and other private scholarships.
Campus Life
Overall campus experience has been great. It has got a plenty of clubs to go and explore further. Recently Techfest "Technoesis" was also organized in the college. During Navratri and Diwali, there were dance workshops held by seniors, which was fun to attend.
Hostel Facilities
You will get a room with a bed and a study table and chair. Ethernet facility is provided. Mess food is good but can be monotous over months. The quality of food is good. They generally keep the mess area clean but sometimes things do go wrong.
Admission
I chose this college over other NITs because it has good average and median package than other NITs. It has more than enough clubs for the exposure I wanted. It has super cool seniors, who always help in whatever way possible.
Faculty
All the professors are extremely good in what they do. But, on top of that some of the professors are very nice. One of our professor, Dr. Ripon Patgiri is one of the professor, whom I admire a lot. He is by far the best professor I've met. Talking of exams, there is Midsem, Minor and Endsem exams. In the first year, students of all the branches have common subjects and from 2nd year, students are segregated.
Interview Experience
There is only one way to get in for B.Tech. programmes, which is through JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) Mains. There is no Group Discussion or Interview. You have to register for counselling through JoSSA, and when this college is alloted to you, you can join.
Night Life
Nightlife is the most exciting part of college life, and NIT Silchar doesn't lag behind in this. There are lots of cafe and canteen in the campus. There is a gym in the sports complex. You can play pretty much every sports here. famous hangout spots are Indie Lake, Tea Garden, etc.
