The Dual Facets of NIT Silchar: A critical look

I choose civil engineering branch of nit silchar because it was one of the oldest branch of nit silchar and faculties of nit silchar were very experienced and college has all the labs and facilities required to learn the engineering of civil. College can include some new technologies in lab still they are teaching old conventional way of engineering. Mainly college will take exam 2 times in a semester and there will be alots of class test during the regular classes schedule.

College provides very good internship opportunities . Also some students secured pre placement offer through internship. students got internship in companies like deloitte, amazon, tata projects, Larsen & Turbo etc.

students are eligible to take part in placement from 3rd year onwards. Companies like Microsoft, Deloitte, Accenture, Amazon, Oracle visited the campus for placements. Total 692 students were placed in year 2023 out of total 837 students. Almost 82% of the students were placed in some company. After completing my degree i am planning to aspire for government job i dont want to work in private companies.

Annual family income more than 5 lakhs- ?62500 NOTE- For the Entry Batch who are going to take admission will have to pay ?20,000 more which is refundable Every student will have to pay Mess Fees of ?22500

There are two fests which happens in college. Incandescence is the cultural fest of the college which happens in march month and Technoisis is technical fest of college which happens in November month of the year. Almost every book is available related to our subjects and government exam prepration in our library. The classrooms for the first and second year are quite small but ok and they are not staircase classrome. all the classes does not have projectors but most of them have. Sports facility in our college is good. A sports complex is accessible to everyone anyone can play games there. there is cricket and football ground also inside the campus. There are many clubs in our colleges we can join any of them according to our intrests in the clubs. Positive point is that we can also join NCC and NSS. There is an NGO(Gyansagar) which is run by students in which students teaches childrens of poor family who have not acccess to proper education.

In our hostel room we will be provided a chair , table , bed without mattress, wadrobe only there will be no attached washroom in any of the hostel. meal quality is so bad. there is no any registration process for hostel whenever you will go for admission they will allot you a hostel depending upon your rank. there are two hostels for first years, good rankers will get Aryabhatt hostel and those who have some less rank will get BH3.

I was getting admission in many other good colleges like IET LUCKNOW, NIT HAMIRPUR, NIT JAMSHEDPUR and many others. I got rejection from many of the NIT's because my jee mains rank was not that good to get admission in top nits. I choose nit silchar over other colleges i was getting admission because nirf ranking of nit silchar was better than all of them. we can take admission in college by securing a descent rank in jee mains exam by the process of jossa and CSAB counselling.

At NIT Silchar, The Faculty to student ratio is 9:1, which is quite good. Every Faculty is very good and easy to approch and they help us in every manner they can. BHS Raju(Maths Faculty) is my favourite professor in college. I like his way of teaching and some time questions from his notes comes directly in semester exam. BHS Raju , Md. Maqbul, Snehashish Nandy(IIT Khargpur) are some best faculties and have great knowledge in subject. I do not dislike any faculty but some of the teacher teaches something else in classroom and in exam we got blank because nothing comes from there notes in subject like Engineering Mechanics. In the first semester, we will have subjects like Mathematics, physics, mechanics, electrical,English. All the exams are very easy to clear expect mechanics exam because the level of question paper is too different and hard what they teach us in class. previous year 70 peoples were having backlog in mechanics which was highest among all the subjects.

We can go the gym anytime in the day and night it is accessible for 24*7 cafeterias gets closed too early in night like 9 pm and library can not be accessed after 5 pm which is negative point. There is no campus and hostel in and out timings we can go out whenever we want. Silchar is not so developed city. according to me there is no such places to hangout. yeah locality is safe to roam at night.
