Likes
- Teachers are quite helpful of applied as well as core branch , they are always ready for helping students , faculty is awesome
- The infrastructure is quite beautiful, it is located at some height so it provides awesome views of mountains and the city
- Our college provides awesome placements especially in textile branch, the highest package was 12.8 lpa and average package is from 9 to 11 lpa in textile , textile is one of the best branch in our college with 99% placements rate.
Dislikes
- Though I'm not a hosteller but my friends who loves in hostels often complains about the bad quality of mess food, mess food can be not good
- The elevator doesn't work , and we have to use stairs to climb six floors for our class
- There is no big playground for sports like cricket or football, there is only a volleyball ground and a badminton court, which is not good for football lovers especially
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is quite good , I'm in textile branch but in the 1st year they teach all subjects, after 1st year when we get into core branch we study about our branch, the faculty members are very helpful in focusing on intellectual growth
Internships Opportunities
For The internships, the students go to places like chandigarh, mumbai, surat , chennai, gujrat, especially of textile engineering. I don't have much clarity about the rest of the project but overall the opportunities for textile is good in here
Placement Experience
The placements of my college is very good in terms of textile engineering they offer and average package of around 10 to 11 lpa the highest package that has ever reached is 12 lpa in my college ,talking about the other branches the placements in other branches are not so good but still many companies visit our college offering and average package of around 4 lpa especially in electronics and communication branch. The placements of CSE(AI-ML) is not recorded because computer science engineering is a completely new branch in this college and is established only 3 years ago.
Fees and Financial Aid
Im in jngec in 1st year textile branch,I payed 32000 admission fees in starting(tution fees included), and for next semester the tution fees will be only 25000 in total including lab fees, registration fees etc.which means a total of 57000 rs of a full year , The fees of my batch mates was also almost the same, no difference, the hostel fees is somewhere around 3000 for a full semester and mess fees is monthly 3000 rs ,
Campus Life
There are two types of festivals first one is a sports festival which is celebrated in summers (August) and one is youth festival which is celebrated in winters in around January and February, talking about the tests , no fests have happened this year in our college, in sports we have volleyball ,badminton ,chess ,tug of war. Our college also have NCC , many students participate in NCC and every year new students are selected and there are camps of NCC too.
Admission
I targetted for jngec only and got it in the counselling , this is the best college among all the other govt colleges of Himachal which we can get through hpcet exams , I was targetting ece in this college but was only getting textile, mechanical and civil , so I selected textile branch due to its decent placement rates , for taking admission there are 3 ways , one through Hpcet exam, one through Jee mains exam and lastly through the score of your 12th board exams , there are separate counselling rounds for each of them , you can participate in anyone to get admission, jee mains and Hpcet are the most preferred ones.
Faculty
No doubt, the faculties are highly qualified and awesome, many of them have done their graduation from nits and iits, they are always ready toh help students in their work, like our maths teacher Miss Sunita thakur, she has amazing teaching skills , she provides us notes and important questions which helps us alot in the exam and mst. There are 2 semester in 1 years , we have 5 subjects in each semester, in every semester we have to give 2 mid semester tests , the mst are easy to medium level in difficulty, in the end of semester, the final exams and practicals begins , the difficulty of final exams are moderate to just a little bit difficult ,but anyone can easily pass if he starts to study just one or two week before exam, around 7 to 10 out of 60 students often fails their final exams resulting in a supply which they have to clear the next year , which is quite of a burden, but with dedication anyone can go all clear and score good cgpa , it's not that hard in this college.
Night Life
Many students of an Hangout in the canteen ,we also have a special place hangout place we call Sniper with awesome view in the mountain just near are college, but it's not really so safe to Roam around in the night because of some bad elements. The hostel closest after 10 p.m. of boys and there is no hostel for girls. The hostel also have a gym. Hostels are quite clean and furnished with tiles also because they are newly made.
