Marine engineering college

Overall its a very good college with a great alumni network. There are so many plus points about the college but I will be highlighting "the alumni network". Almost every big shipping company in the world is having their heads as our passouts. Negative point: - campus infrastructure is not that good as most of the private colleges have. - there is a little less of extra curricular activities but you get plenty of opportunity in sports.

This is not about this college but most of Indian colleges as of the education system in India curriculum is not keeping pace with the market and Industry needs. Most of the things we learn when we get into the field itself, so there is very less exposure to the actual scenario. But as it says where there is a will there is a way, So college doesn't matter, college and teachers are just guide, it totally depends on you how you come up with things. Knowledge is everywhere, it's just will and zeal which is required to gain it.

Since this college is for merchant navy, the working space is having its own perks and benifits. But nothing in this world is just having pros and not having cons. This college provide you the best placements for engineering department in merchant navy ships. You get a great package,our average package is far more than the average package of most IIT's. First 6 months it will be 500$ a month as a trainee. Then you crack exam for being eligible to sail as a 4th engineer. Then you will be earning around 2500$ a month. That too without taxes.

There is an annual literary event lit-o-sphere. An annual college fest "tempest" in the month of October, tempest is the largest marine fest. Also we conduct chakravyuh our sports fest along with the tempest.

Fee structure is quite simple. You get fooding, lodging, books Uniform, copies shoes, sports kit and what not. Its just one time payment every 6 months. Then you just have to give examination fees for semester exams. Odd semester - 1,25,000 Even semester - 1,00,000 Exam fee- 300 per theory exam 500 per practical exam. All above Amount in ?. Also there is option to have education loan from the in campus sbi branch. Which provide loans to students easily.

In colleges you get Performance based rewards for meritorious students. University topper get ?1,00,000 Next 30 students ?75000 Next 30 students ? 50000. Also SCI shipping corporation of India provides ?1 lac scholarship per annum for economically weaker students.

Extracurricular activities are not that good in college itself. But if you want to pursue your passion there is plenty of opportunity in the city and you will get plenty of time from your 2nd year. One more thing i would say if there is no opportunity then create one.

Alumni network is best in the marine field. As this college is a trademark and the alma matter already had set the bars and standards in the marine field. There is nothing which is hidden in the community, everything will be known by everyone. There is also an ex-cadets association which sponsors many of the fests in college plus also guide the new students of college and help them in every perspective of life.

First gave IMU CET. Cracked it, then online counselling where I had to choose colleges. Then the list came, I was selected and I landed up here. Had my medicals cleared. With all the documents required I got admitted here.

Every government college provides the best faculty, it totally depends on you how much you can utilize and grasp. I had never heard anyone saying that he/she asked his/her doubt and the teacher denied to answer. There can be delay. But he will get your doubt clear.
