Thapar University COE Pros and Cons

For a fresher the course curriculum is good as the course has helped me to have a good fundamental knowledge of the core concepts of engineering apart from this i would say that the cirriculum should have more industry like trainings or exposure to the subjects which are needed in real-world applications

Many companies gave internship opportunities in the college and with good stipend namely Bain (stipend 40k), ZS (stipend 40k), Blackrock (stipend 75k), AMEX (stipend 1lakhs) and many more came visited the campus.

Campus Placements in the current year are not that great because the overall market is in a slowdown but yes two years back the college had a very good placement and till now I have been able to get an intern and I hope that I would be able to get my placement in the coming months.

So the fees in the first year started from about 430000 and eventually it rose to about 520000 in the last year and apart from this I got a scholarship in my third year for about 170000 as it was a merit based scholarship and anyone can the whole fees waived off if someone has got gpa for the whole year above 9.5, but overall I would say it is a bit overpriced for the degree.

One thing I can assure you is that the campus life in Thapar is way amazing than any college in India because the campus is very well maintained and you will have many clubs to participate using which you can socialize with your fellow mates and the college is constantly upgrading the infrastructure may it be hostels, labs or even the green areas.

Hostel facilities are very good in Thapar but the charges for Hostel are a bit high I do agree that they are very good but the hostel fees could the range from 90k to 1.5lakhs a year depending on the room type you are taking.

I had applied to many other colleges apart from Thapar which had BITS, VIT, Manipal, PEC and UIET in these I had got the admission in VIT, Manipal, UIET and Thapar so I didn't took UIET because I wanted a CS branch and other colleges where in the South so I took admisson in Thapar and as it was a Covid year so my counselling was in online mode.

The faculty is very good as compared to many colleges as some teachers have been there from 25 years and they have a firm grip in there subjects apart from this course for the first year is bit outdated but the college is trying to improve the course now apart from this exams are a bit tough from many other private colleges.

So the nightlife is not that great in the campus because we usually had in time for the campus and the hostels around 8:30pm, but yeah there many good restaurants and clubs nearby campus and you can do a late entry if you want to hangout.
