Course Curriculum Overview

4

I had chosen this course that is History honours because from the very beginning I wanted to learn more about social science and particularly about geography and history. I got history honours in Ramjas College in first allotment round itself so I didn't wanted to miss this opportunity to study from such a reputated institution which is well known for its arts courses. Our faculty is very highly qualified and they teach us our syllabus in very practical manner and help us to learn from our past for betterment of our future. If I talk about area of improvement in course curriculum, field visits should be given more importanace so that we can easily understand and relate to our syllabus. Exams are conducted at the end of every semester and difficulty level is moderate to easy.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yearly Fee for my course that is history honours from Ramjas College is around 15000 rupees for each year. Apart from this annual fee we also need to pay examination fees which is around 1500-2000 rupees and it varies for different courses and is greater for practical science field courses. The complete fee for my course that is three year graduation fees is around 45000 rupees and approximately all the courses have these amount of fee only . When I talk about scholarship, there is no such opportunity that I got in my college.

Campus Life

5

Campus life of Delhi University is just fabulous. I am a student at Ramjas College which lies in North campus and this provides us opportunity to interact with students from many different colleges of DU in North campus and make connections. It helps us to interact with students from many different regions from all over India. All the colleges conducts their annual fests at different times and annual fest of Ramjas College is called as MOSAIC which is organised during month of April to may and is a three day fest. Apart from this annual fest our college also organises Diwali fest called as RAMJASOTSAV . There are many different societies like art, dance, drama, music, debating society and many others. I am a part of Melange that is fine arts society of Ramjas College and NSS unit of Ramjas College as well. This all help us to develop ourselves.

Hostel Facilities

3

I've applied for college hostel in first semester but process for hostel allotment is very slow and I got alloted hostel in second semester by which I was already shifted in a PG. College hostel is alloted in the basis of CUET score in first sem and CGPA in semester examination later. Some of my friends live in college hostel and according to them infrastructure is moderate and food is good. Fees for college hostel is around 80000 for one year. But seats are very limited and because of which students had to live in very expensive PGs in the campus. Kamlanagar and Vijayanagar are famous localities for PGs in North campus and rents varies for different pgs from 12000-15000.

Admission

Firstly I'll talk bout Admission process to my college. I appeared to CUET UG examination which is entrance test for many university for undergraduate courses. My first preference was colleges of University of Delhi and then Banaras Hindu University ( BHU) . My CUET score was 757/800 and I was allotted geography honours in a girls college of BHU. But I decided to come to Delhi University because the type of campus life it provides, is not provided any where else. My first preference in colleges of Delhi University was Miranda house but I couldn't get there because of very high cut off for general category students. And I was allotted Ramjas College in first round of allotment and I did wanted to miss this chance to get into Delhi University.

Faculty

5

When I talk about faculty members of my college I'd say that I liked faculty of history department the most. As my maximum interaction is with my department faculty only and they are very supportive and understanding to each student. During exam times they even take extra online classes to prepare us for exams. Apart from academics they also help us to deal with other daily life situations. I won't say any faculty of my college is not good or that I disliked . Examinations are conducted on the end of every semester and its timely. Difficulty level of examination is moderate and very few students are there who aren't able to pass these exams.

Night Life

4

Nightlife in North campus is just amazing but its still a little bit risky for girls to go out alone late night. There are many cafeterias and chilling points in and around our campus. Most famous is hudson lane known for cafes and clubs. Hostel and PGs in timings are mostly around 9-10 pm for girls hostel and almost same for boys living in hostels.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
