About my college

There is almost only positives to mention here. Junior -Senior bonding, ALUMNI Network, sports, academics, fellow batchmates bo ding ,all of the above mentioned things are just awesomeOne thing that is most important to note here is that our college is not for little hearted guys.

Course duration is of 4 years having 8 semesters. I am currently in 2nd semester. Each semester have 6 theory subjects and four practical papers. You have to pass all the papers to be an All clear cadet.

Actually IMU colleges are central colleges.Also IMU KC (known as DMET then)which was established in the same year when NDA was established. So most of paramilitary training are also is being in practice ,that makes physically fit and active ,that attracts company and there is no need of internships for us.

As mentioned in last answer, all the different activities which happen in our college attracts companies and if you are all clear in all semesters there is almost your joining letter is waiting for you here.

The major fest which is celebrated in our college is TEMPEST Which is certainly different from the rest college as is the biggest marine festival in Asia. There is cultural, Technical, sports etc. Events that are in included in TEMPEST.

All it depends on how you want to see the fee structure. Some might say it is high but in my opinion it doesn't matter to me as I have tajen loan from the Bank and that will be paid by me when i will get job.

Based on merit ,University gives scholarship to cadets who secure rank under 50 across all the colleges under the university. Top ranker get Rs1 lakh and rest of them get 50k. It would seems you seems to get rank but it's not. You have to be dedicated for this.

One major difference which i also above answers ,that is our college is paramilitary. So we get paramilitary training. Every cadet must join any of the sports( cricket/Hockey/Basketball/Football/Volleyball/Badminton/Table Tennis/Chess etc) ,so we can have all-round intelligence.

Currently residing in Junior Hostel, which might had build 30-35 years ago but as similar to root of college in marine field it is quite strong and still beautiful ??. Almost all the facilities available here except AC in rooms.

Again this is best part of our college , Alumni network of our college is such strong that even 60s passouts still comes to our hostel to meet us. All the senior students are like our next to brother.

Exam structure is almost same which is in most of the engineering colleges. 6 theory papers and 4 practical papers are there.2 Internals are conducted per 2 months in a semester and the third one Final semey exams, there is also Viva which happens before end sem.

First of all ,I had applied for IMU CET online application. After some days I got the admit card for the exam.Got centre in my city. paper was OK type and I got 635 rank when i get result ,that means I got my first choice college, Kolkata campus.

Most of the faculties are the passouts of the same college ,that means they know what is required for us to be able to connect to the world of Merchant Navy. Some of them are also from IITs and NITs.
