Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is very good. The syllabus of the course of relevant and also helps in preparing different entrance exams for masters. Also course offers wide variety of subjects so students can have exposure to different opportunities in the field. There are also field study visits so students can get their real world experience and exposure. The external exams are a little bit hectic as the take it into a streak. There is no gaps between the exams so it is a little hectic. Also some proffessors should provide study materials to students so it will be helpful .

Fees and Financial Aid

Bsc microbiology is three years course in which first year fees are comparatively less than the other two years .For general category first year fees are approx 23000 and approx 33000 fees are there for second and third year. If you belongs to reserved category then fees are comparatively less approx half of that for general students. There are many scholarships for which you can apply for both general and reserved students Mahadbt scholarships are avilable, like chatrapati shahu scholarship scheme ,Dr.punjabrao scholarship, eklavya scholarship etc. The pros of this college are The overall course is interesting, and it is the probably the best college to learn this course in Maharashtra. There are different opportunities in this field which are offered by college. The labs, faculties, facilities are overall good . The exposure is good. College provide information regarding any workshops, internships available and also professors will help regarding that. The cons are there are no placement opportunities after your Bsc from college but it is there after masters.

Campus Life

4

Overall the campus is very pretty and beautiful. The spandan -cultural event organised by college every in year in month of December/January .Everyone gets chances to perform their talents in this event. Also sports are there during this overall these are the best days in this college. Their are different clubs are avilable like social outreach enabling centre, nature club ,NSS is there which all help in overall development of students. The central BJ wadia library is avilable where more than 2 lakhs of books are avilable which can be used by students.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel facilities are very bad .the only advantage of being in Fc hostel is they provides you a single room. Common washrooms you have to use .the quality of hostel mess is very very poor. As the hostel building is old there is problem during rainy season.also hostel authorities are not student supportive, there are unnecessary rules and regulations like no parcels allowed, eatables not allowed in your own room. Also the intimings 10 pm. Registration process is also a problematic.you have to register first then they will release a merit list for hostel then you will get hostel after paying fees. Overall hostel is not value for money.

Admission

The admission process for Bsc is based on the marks of 12th and for masters there is an extended exam.cutoffs for Bsc for general candidates are high for both bsc and BA nearly above 90 percent and for reserved categories it is less comparatively. The reputation of college is high in Maharashtra as it is one of the oldest college in India (established in 1884).some famous personalities completed their education from this college so this attracts students of Maharashtra and other states to take admission here . I have not applied for any other colleges. The difference between others and this is the exposure, quality, environment which you get here is great.

Faculty

3

Overall faculties are very good, they are highly qualified and dedicated to their work. But as everywhere not all faculties can be perfect.some are best at teaching, supporting and all.some professors not even take lectures on time and also deny to provide notes or any study materials to students. The exam system is based on internal and external exams both for 50 marks. In internals there are two stages CE1 and 2 in CE1 professors gives choices like presentations, poster making, assignment etc.and for CE2 there is complete MCQ or subjective type of test depending on professor of that subject. External exam pattern is same for all subjects it is subjective in which 2,3,4,5 marks questions are there.

Night Life

2

The nightlife around campus is the best.Fc road is one of the famous places in pune is there out of the campus. Unfortunately there is no entry for outsiders in college campus after 8 pm as security considerations. The hostel in time is 10 pm. The college library also closes at 8 pm. There is no night life for hostel students .

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
