Remarks

The college is still in its developing phase. College management body needs huge improvement. There is no communication facilities in emergency. No ambulance services are provided. The students have to depend upon their parents to take some actions. The office is always rigid with their words.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum at my time has changed thrice. When I was in 2nd year of my engineering the question pattern was changed earlier it was 70 marks + 30 marks of practical, now it was 100 marks paper. While in 3rd year we again faced subject changes. And in the 4th year the question pattern again changed mark distribution was 20+48+32. It was a lengthy one. Other than that we faced problems regarding practicals and lab sessions. Seminars were held once or twice a year.

Internships Opportunities

Internship is done only when we acquire prior permission from the organization in which we opted for. Then we present an application to the principal of our college. With his duly signed application we send them to the respective officer of the organisation and then they officially carry out the procedure to enroll us for a certain period of time. I opted of a single internship at R&B Division-I, Sambalpur. I was there under the Junior Section Engineer, for the construction of a 50 seater hostel building. I did not get any stipend.

Placement Experience

1

Placement opportunities are least with maximum of newly established US IT companies and Call centres. I was selected for two companies Pyramid, Noida and eTeam, Ahemdabad. Packages they offered were highest than others i.e. 2LPA+incentives.

College Events

4

Every year our college, like other engineering college, arranges an Annual Festival which includes both technical (during day) and cultural (during night) events. Certain prizes and cash prizes are rewarded to the winners of technical events. Few eminent stars have also enhanced the festival by their presence like the Underground Authorities - Band, Milind Gaba (Punjabi singer), Teri Miko (DJ), Arjun Kanungo (Singer), Abhijeet Majumdar (Odia Singer), Human Sagar (Odia Singer), Aseema Panda (Odia Singer), and Darshan Raval (Singer).

Fee Structure And Facilities

Tuition fee structure of the college is feasible. Looking at the food served in the hostels and the amount charged for it, is very expensive. Tuition fee ranges from 30,000 to 40,000 per year and the hostel charges are; 13360 for lodging and boarding per year and 12000 per semester for food served.

Fees and Financial Aid

College has no such offers. We had to obtain certain government scholarships such as Prerana (For SC, ST, OBC), Medhabruti (on basis of marks) and Kalia scholarship (for children of farmers). Prerana gives the complete tuition fees as scholarship amount. Medhabruti provides 10,000 per year. And Kalia scholarship is subject to state matters. It may or may not give the scholarship.

Campus Life

3.5

College lacked well equiped labs, there are extracurricular activities. Our college has a musical band - Cadence (Official) and dance group - Masterpieces Crew (Non-Official) and Dramatic Society (Official).

Hostel Facilities

0.5

In boys hostel there are generally 3 people in one room with common toilets and in girls hostel there are 5 or more people in one room and common toilets. There are two boys hostel and one girls hostel. There is always a problem with electricity and voltage fluctuation as well as phase problem since the beginning. New big hostels are being constructed one 500 seated boys hostel as well as one 500 seated girls hostel.

Alumni/Alumna

No, they haven't been in contact, neither we have any alumni body. Few students come that also, only to apply for interview in the college as a guest faculty and others come to receive certificates. We have no periodic contacts with any of them. Neither we have any information about their achievements after the college.

Exam Structure

There is an examination section in our college which handle sand regulated all the examination as per the laid rules of University. Recently the Exam structure was changed. Questions of 20 marks with short type answers. Followed by 8 questions which are little elucidate carrying 6 marks each. Then two long questions each carrying 16 marks, which needed longer elaboration.

Admission

Starting with my JEE exam, which I appeared in the year 2015 just after my 12th examination. Then depending upon the scores there was an online choice filling which included the various engineering colleges in the state with different engineering trades. Then notification of Nodal Centre - choice - filling was informed (there again we could adjust the choices in order of preferences again). After that, basing upon the choice filling and comparing with the cutoff percentage of each college, a seat is reserved in one college in the state, which is informed through messages/emails.

Faculty

3.5

There were less teachers in the initial days, but thanks to MHRD, by their scheme, highly-qualified teachers were appointed and sent to our college in each branch. The faculties which were previously recruited by the university had experience but lacked teaching skills. And no programs or seminars were held regarding this issues. The teachers remained unskilled. As soon as the MHRD recruited teachers started teaching, our confidence regarding the subjects increased. They had all the skills required for teaching and understanding the students.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
