Course Curriculum Overview

3

I think my course is a perfect blend of perfect subjects for anyone aiming for government exams in future. In our first year we're being taught history of Usa (it'll change in the second year), history of India (it's constant till the end) and social formation (basically world history). I have even opted for political science as my general elective. So yeah, the subjects and the curriculum taught is good and of relevance in future if you're planning to prepare for exams. But one drawback here is that there's a lot of classroom teaching. Or maybe, just classroom teacher. There are no smartboards or anything so that the children could look at things and study them more carefully.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have paid c. 14000rs. annual fees for my course (history Hons). I belong to general category and do not avail any kind of scholarship or anything. The fees for different categories vary in the college. SC/ST's pay c. 13000 rs. Whereas the fees for pwd students is very meagre. There are many provisions for scholarships and other financial aids as well in the college. I didn't apply for one so I don't really know much but, many of my friends have availed them.

Campus Life

3

The college has a great campus ngl. It's huge and, clean and hygienic. Deshbandhu has the best library in the whole university. There is lack of hygiene in the canteen but things have started to change now. Its getting better slowly. There's a beautiful cafeteria where you can sit whole day chilling with your friends. Girls have a girls common room. It has chairs, tables, a bed and a changing room. The college has a huge archery ground and a ncc ground. The fests of different departments are taking place every other day. So daily life is quite fun, no cap. But the only drawback is the creepy crowd. The clubs and societies try their best to maintain the college life but the people here are just vibe killers.

Admission

I had earlier taken admission in MCM DAV College, chandigarh but they didn't let me opt history as my subject and here I am today studying history Hons. That was the only reason that I left that college otherwise I wouldn't have. And as I gave CUET, i scored 664/800. I feel I could've gotten into some other better college than this one but ig i made some mistakes in making the prefrence list.

Faculty

4

The classes have the name of like 70 students in each section. Of course, even less than 30 attend the classes. The faculty of some subjects are very very very approachable, like personally, for my course, our teachers are top notch. Very approachable and very friendly. If I started name dropping faculties from my course, the whole review would be about them only. As of history, there are no teachers that I don't like but, I have pol science as my GE subject and most of the teachers there SUCK. not like they don't know how to teach or anything (some of them don't) but they're just straight off rude and unfriendly. As for the exams the system is same as in all other DU colleges. Any kind of mismanagement in exams or marking system is by the university, not by the college so if your dream uni is DU then you'll have to face the mismanagement by DU is either Deshbandhu or Hindu.

Night Life

2

To be honest, the college is situated in a very weird place. Kalka ji is not a place where you can hang out with your friends frequently. Yet there is kfc in like 2mins walking distance, MCD on a 5 min drive, Third Wave Coffee and Taco bell also like 2min walk. There are alot of cafes but I won't say that they're VERY GOOD. The locality of the college is very active at night but I wouldn't say safe (for girls). Baaki if you wanna hang out, lajpat nagar is very near, you can always head there.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
