Course Curriculum Overview
I pursued Bachelors's in English from Motilal. I was a part of the CBCS program, which was designed in a way that gave me adequate exposure to various areas of literature. We, as students, were given various assignments and papers to write. Class tests and presentations were conducted at regular intervals. Also, we would have semester exams at the end of each semester, which would test our knowledge and skill in our respective disciplines.
Placement Experience
The placement cell of my college is fairly good. While students hailing from Commerce streams would get really good placements, students from Humanities background would have to struggle to some extent to get a good placement.
College Events
Motilal conducts many formal and informal events every year. It holds various competitions, festivals, seminars, parties, guest sessions, and more. The events are democratically organized and provide us students with lots and lots of access and exposure.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Motilal believes in making higher education inclusive and affordable. With an annual fee of 4,000 Rupees, it is the most economical educational institution among all the colleges across the Delhi University Campus. It would cost me 25 rupees by bus to travel from my house, in Dwarka, to Motilal Nehru College.
Fees and Financial Aid
No, I never opted for any scholarship or education loan, for that matter. Motilal made life really easy for me.
Campus Life
Campus lie at Motilal is really vibrant. We would have lots and lots of fun at the Jubilee Block, Hawa Mahal, Sundari Chowk, and not to mention, the college canteen. The gender ratio at the campus was quiet even. Also, the college was equipped with seminar rooms, computer labs, sports ground, and more. The college also had many societies, like debate society, dramatics society, and more.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors and the alumnus were really supportive, caring, and helpful. They made life really easy and convenient for us.
Admission
It was in May 2015 when the University of Delhi announced its first cutoff list. I sought admission to Motilal Nehru College (Day) by clearing the cutoff. The cutoff marks for English was 92.0%, while I had scored 93.5% in the CBSE 12th examinations of 2014. Getting admission in the English department of Motilal Nehru College was actually a cakewalk for me.
Faculty
The English department had excellent faculty members, who were full of knowledge and experience. They had a really influential personality. The Faculty taught us in a manner that was really interesting and engaging. They would make various text to self connections and help us understand the intricacies of literature.
