Life at NIT Agartala: Learning, Living, and Growing

The course curriculum at NIT Agartala is good and covers all core topics, which influenced me to choose this branch. It prepares well for core and higher studies. Exams are two main tests per semester(Mid term + End term) and moderately difficult. More practical sessions and industry-oriented projects could improve learning.

At NIT Agartala, students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester. Companies like JSW, TCE, Tata Power, Reliance, TCS, Infosys, and L&T visit, with average 6-8 lakh. About 70–80 percent of students get placed. After my degree, I plan to work in a software role.

I joined NIT Agartala in 2021 under the GEN EWS category with a family income between 1–5 lakh. Because of this I get a two third remission on tuition fees. My academic fees per semester are usually around 25,000–30,000, with the first semester being higher due to one time charges. Over 8 semesters my total academic cost comes to about 2.3 lakh. For students in the general category without remission the total is around 5.7 lakh for the full BTech program. The hostel fees are separate. In the first semester I paid about 31,200 including admission fee, caution deposit, rent, utilities and mess advance. From the second semester onwards the hostel charges are about 25,200 per semester, covering rent, electricity, water, development charges, transport and mess. Over 4 years hostel expenses add up to roughly 2 lakh. So in my case the combined cost of academics and hostel is around 4.3 lakh. For student whose family income is more than 5 lakh it comes to about 7.7–7.8 lakh. Students at NIT Agartala can also apply for scholarships such as Merit cum Means, Post Matric for SC ST OBC, Top Class Education. Many of my batchmates from reserved categories pay only the nominal semester charges since their tuition is fully waived and scholarships cover part of their living expenses.

Campus life at NIT Agartala is enjoyable and active. Annual fest AAYAM is held in March. The library has many books and journals. Classrooms have basic facilities. Sports and clubs like coding and cultural groups keep students engaged

Hostel facilities at NIT Agartala are decent. Rooms have a bed, study table and fan. Meals are provided in the mess, generally decent but sometimes repetitive. Hostel registration is simple and fees are affordable.I lived in hostel

I chose NIT Agartala for its strong academics, supportive faculty, and good campus life. I applied to other NITs but my rank only allowed admission here. Admission is through JEE Main, with eligibility in Physics, Chemistry, and Math. The process through JoSAA counseling was smooth and transparent.

At NIT Agartala, faculty are helpful and approachable, with a good student-teacher ratio(60:1). I liked Dr. S Sharma and Prof. K Banerjee for clear and interactive teaching. Midterm and end term Exam are conducted per semester. The course is useful, though some topics need more practical

Admission to NIT Agartala for B.Tech is purely based on JEE Main, so there were no group discussions, interviews, or written tests. The process required good JEE Main rank and meeting eligibility criteria in 12th grade. I prepared by focusing on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics concepts and practicing previous year questions.

Nightlife at NIT Agartala is good. Hostels have curfew around 10 PM, library, and gyms close early. Students usually roam in hostels, common rooms, or with friends in the campus ground. Nearby areas are safe, and some popular areas include the campus canteen and sports ground
