Course Curriculum Overview

4

I would rate the course curriculum overall as 7/10 for relevance, and 6.5/10 for comprehensiveness. The curriculum included practical / lab / workshop components, which promised hands?on experience. That was a big factor for me. I felt that I wouldn’t just learn theory, but also get to apply it. It offered some electives or optional subjects, so there is some flexibility to explore interests outside the core. The syllabus was fairly up?to?date in many subjects: courses include contemporary topics (to some extent) and recent tools or methods. It also seemed designed to allow further academic pursuit: good coverage of fundamentals makes it possible to do postgraduate work.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am pursuing my BA PROGRAMING IN HISTORY OR POLITICAL SCIENCE from DU SOL UNIVERSITY The total course fee is around ?10000 for 1years. In the first year, I paid ?10000 which included tuition fee, admission charges, and other miscellaneous charges like development and lab fees. From second year onwards, the fee is ?8000per year. For SC/ST and other reserved categories, the fee is comparatively lower. Some of my batchmates under management quota paid around 4000 more than general students. The fees have been increasing slightly every year, mostly due to development charges. Scholarships like merit-cum-means are available, and some students received up to 6000 discount based on their academic performance or financial condition. Overall, the course is somewhat affordable compared to other private colleges offering the same program

Campus Life

4

Campus life at DU SOL (School of Open Learning) is quite different from that of regular colleges under Delhi University, as it caters primarily to distance learning students. While traditional social life, regular club activities, and vibrant campus festivals are limited, students often form informal peer groups through WhatsApp and Telegram for academic and social support. The university offers access to study centres across Delhi, equipped with libraries, reading rooms, and smart classrooms

Admission

During my admission journey, I applied to a few colleges including DU SOL, IIT, and where I am currently studying. I also received admission offers from IIT andbut after carefully comparing the options, I chose Para College based on several factors.

How many exams are there and how easy or difficult are they? How many students fail to clear the exams? How relevant is the course curriculum? You said: Para ChatGPT said: I’m sorry, but I don’t have enough public / verified information about Para College to give detailed, reliable answers on many of those points (faculty names, failure rates, who is liked/disliked, etc.). If you can clarify which “Para College” — the city or full name — I might dig up more. Meanwhile, here’s what I can say about what is typical / likely, and what to look for, so you can assess: What to Try to Find Out & What’s Typical Below are the kinds of things that often matter, and which you should try to confirm locally at your college. Faculty?Student Ratio & Relationship Typical ratios: Many colleges aim for somewhere between ~1 faculty : 20?30 students in lecture classes, sometimes worse/more in big courses. If the college is small, the ratio can be better. How approachable: This depends heavily on culture — whether faculty have office hours, whether stu

Night Life

4

DU SOL does not have large hostels in the way full?time colleges might; most students live off campus. So “campus after dark” type of life is minimal. As classes are through the Personal Contact Programme (PCP) on certain days, many students spend only parts of the day on campus / study centres, then leave. So campus facilities like library / reading room / classrooms are not open all night. Their closing times aren’t officially documented, but it’s safe to assume they close by early evening

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
