Course Curriculum Overview

4

I choose this subject as i want to gain experience in geoinformatics and in physical geography and this course is very helpful in that and make us prepare for the further exams such as upsc and it can be improved if the practical activities are provided to students as this helps them learn a lot . The timming of exam and frequency is very manageable it is not that hard it is easy going .

Internships Opportunities

4

As every year the placement cell fest take place so the different companies provide internship to the students on the basis of their skills and degree . The stipend depends on the various factors such as experience, work . The internship offer to students are as in finance, marketing, hr with the stipend of upto 15000 or it can be also certificate based along this their is aslo summer internship provided by principal of the college.

Placement Experience

3

The college has a placement cell and provide a very good rate of placement for the courses like b.com ,bsc and some for the courses such as geography. Placements take place in the 5th sem if you are doing three year degree or in the 7th sem if you are doing four year degree. The number of companies visited were about 80 to 90 the names of the recruiters is as Google, Accenture, Amazon, Talent Serve, Deloitte. The highest package was of 24 lpa and the median salary is 5 lpa the lowest package was of 2 lpa . 60 % of students are placed in placement. My plans after getting the degree is will prefer higher education

Fees and Financial Aid

So the total fees of the year is between 18000 to 20000 as in first year i paid 20000 and in second year it was decreased to 19000 and the course fees is same for all expect the pwd as the have to pay a very little amount and there is also registration fees that is 1200 to 1500 which has been increased from 1st semester to coming semester but there are no other extra charges for the course like there are no extra compulsory charges in the course completion. Besides this the college also provide fee concession on depending various factors as family annual income there background etc along this the scholarship is also provided to the meritorious students like who have scored more than 8.5 cgpa in a year like Prof. Anil Krishan Aggarwal Meritorious Award (for bsc students in final year),Ravimohan Bharti Scholarship by Prof. Preeti Tiwari, Department of Geography ( for geography students in final year),Dr. Usha Aggarwal Trust ( for b.com students). Basically these all scholarship are based on the marks obtained by the students in their final examination along this scholarship is also provided to bpl and pwd students which is named as Vice Chancellor Student Fund- Financial assistance for BPL students and PWD students.

Campus Life

5

The campus life of college is very good it has a social environment to connect with everyone and socialize with them . The college also organise the fest held every in February. Student also run many societies related to their department and other than studies like of photography, dance , music . The library of college is also good in quality and quantity provided a wide exposure to books. Classes also have smart boards with good quality

Admission

I applied for the top colleges of Delhi University such as kirori mal college and miranda house but i was not able toale their for the same course because of the cut off these colleges had a very high cut off like 780 and i secured 700 as a general category with a disadvantage of category and even the BHU also i was not eligible for the same reason of cut off ws high for general category so according to the preference list i was selected for the shivaji College of Delhi University. The process for the admission in the college is very simple you have to appear for cuet ug exam and need to clear the cut off marks the eligibility for the exam is you have been passed in 12th examination. My addmission experience was good it was simple and manageable.

Faculty

5

The faculty of the college is very good they are very approachable and tries their best to solve students all doubts and problems. Talking about my department faculties of geography are very impressive and very nice to all students the most liked faculty of department is Prof. Tejbir Singh Rana , Dr. Preeti Tiwari ,Dr. Prabuddh Kumar Mishra,Dr. Mukesh Kumar Meena these teachers are kind of gem of geography department. And the pattern of exam expect semester exam is a presentation and monthly test and also practicals and these exams are not easy and not tough they are moderate no student appears to be fail .

Night Life

4

Nightlife of college or of campus is quite okay because of the area it does not have such places nearby to hangout and also safety reasons . The area near by college is safe for walks but there are not hangout places you can visit to the society parks . And in college the place to hangout is hawa mahal and college also closes at 7 pm . Overall the college serves a good campus life

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
