Course Curriculum Overview

4

Subjects like indian political thought and international relations are very thought provoking to me and tends to make me curious and excited to study the material. The course should include more practical aspects like policy debates and youth parliaments to make it more conducive

Internships Opportunities

2

Our college provides strong research and skill oriented internship opportunities. One of the key programmes is SRVIPRA allowing online and offline internship programmes focusing on research and report writing. Currently i am in my first year so i have not had any experience in placements or internships.

Placement Experience

4

Students generally become eligible by their 4th semester for placements. Theres a placement cell in the college that handles the placements and guides the students through interviews. Companies enter with their conditions regarding the cgpa they require and the skills they require and interview the students and select accordingly.

Fees and Financial Aid

Year wise fees for political science honours is around 20k, and the fee is slightly higher (22k-25k) for science courses because of lab equipment. Theres an additional examination fee that pwbd candidates dont have to pay.

Campus Life

4

Sri Venkateswara college holds its annual fest nexus which is one of the top 3 fests in delhi university. It is a grand event featuring one of the best artists. The library is very vast and holds books in every discipline. Its also very well maintained and has adequate seating. Venky has alot of student led societies like the music society and dance society. They select through pi rounds and have certain commitments from the members of the society. This makes the college life alot more dynamic and away from the academic load that the students have and makes it more conducive to go to college.

Admission

I applied to two- three other universities and got selected in them but refused to go because of long travel that wouldve wasted alot of my time and my college holds more academic credibility and a longer standing academic legacy and i also had gotten my desired course so i decided to go to sri venkateswara college. To get selected in my college i had to give the cuet exam which is a centralisef exam used to get into delhi university and other deemed or central universities. Then post the cuet exam theres a csas allocation procedure through which i got my college allotted.

Faculty

4

The faculties are very genuine and understanding, we can reach out to them whenever its required whether its regarding the subject or if its something general. There are 5 compulsory exams and 2 exams for sec and vac (depends whether theyre theory or practicals). The exams vary in difficulty, as of now the exams have been manageable and fairly easy.

Night Life

3

Inside the college the most famous hangout spot is the canteen and the stairs where everyone sits with their friend groups and eats. Theres also the cafeteria where its generally very crowded. The college also has a nescafe booth serving quick on the go food and drinks at affordable prices. Outside the college there is a plethora of restaurants and cafes and various street food places, always surrounded by college students.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
