Course Curriculum Overview

3

To be honest i had no idea and didn't even know about the college[ Dyal Singh College] i had only heard of Hindu, Hansraj , Miranda etc, but from the very starting i had great interest in history and really wanted to have a career in history so i chose delhi university and got this amazing college, I met a lot of people from all over india , which opened the door for me to know and learn a lot of things i was missing, new cultures, traditions, languages, the curriculum plays an important roll in our holistic development.I have we should focus on practical learnings more than theory based teachings,i think exams not that difficult , if you take claases regular , study well than nothing is difficult.

Fees and Financial Aid

As i am in 2nd year of my college so i have paid my fees for 4 semesters . For 1st year it was around 14005 and in second year i paid around 11885 .We do not pay any other fees , i think this amount includes everything . I don't have any idea if my batchmates from other categories get reduction in their fees or not.I have heard my friends talkig about some reduction in fee of those students who are from financially weak background.

Campus Life

5

In the starting i thought i would not enjaoy my three years here but now i want time to stuck here only because college gave people with whom i made a lot of sweet, bitter memories, i involed my self in alot of clubs like Rotaract club of Dyal singh college, Gandhi study circle, Adveka the invornment society of Dyal Singh Colleg. These societies gave me the chance to explore, help ,grow, learn and make a lot of friends and family. We have a very big and spacious library , and all the required books, i spent a lot of my free time library ,I dint buy my course books as they are available in the library ,there are not technological facilities like, smart boards or anything like this in classes, our college offers spots like basketball, football, vollyball ect ,. Yes we have many student run clubs in the college, like Rudra the dance society, Gemini the art society ...and many more all these socities play an importnat roll in students holistic development.

Admission

I had heard of Delhi University , and only knew few colleges, like Hindu, Miranda, SRCC, etc, and all i wanted was Hindu, but to get into any college you have to get good marks , and there are various factors which influence you admission into college in du, after all i coudn't make to Hindu and got Dyal Singh College , now i am very happy because all college are a place to explore , learn , teach and make a lot of friends .Yes i coudn't make to my prefered college as i didnt get required marks , i had 687marks and i come general category so it was not possible.

Faculty

5

My college has around 6000 students and around 300 teachers , i am not sure , teachers are very interective and suppotive . I really admire a few of the teachers who have taught me and some of them are teaching us in this semester , like Narottam Vineet sir , he taught us History of India in 1st year , i really enjoyed his classes, then this year Mr. Uma sir who is very serious about his students and teachings , from my point of view he is an ideal teacher, one more teacher i really admire and respect is Dinesh Prashad sir who taught us History of China last sem , and this sem he is teaching us History of Mordern Japan, what i love about his classes is his intelectual side, sometimes i wonder from where did he get all those thoughts and knowledge, he has very calm and loving nature.

Night Life

3

Our college does not offer hostel facilities , but many students who are from outside delhi live in or around college areas like many students live in South Extention , Kotla ect . We often hangout near metro station as the night time ..its full of students drinking tea coffee, eating street food etc,Inside college we often eat in our college canteen, and we also have some stalls outside collge , our capmus and areas near it are safe as we have NIA near us

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
