Metallurgy at NIT Rourkela:
- Campus-wise, the college has a very large campus.
- But, if you are planning to pursue metallurgy, let me tell you that you will have lesser job opportunities in both the public and private sectors in India.
- You might have to shift to another country to get a well-paying job and earn decently in your field of study.
Electrical at NIT Silchar:
- There are also some really good facilities here including the largest digital library in South Asia.
- The campus is really good too.
- The placement records are amazing. Moreover, electrical is an evergreen branch with decent scope in the public sector. This would surely make a good alternative.

Having a few friends studying in both of these institutes, I can provide you with some details based on my interaction with them. IIIT Guwahati and NIT Silchar are both institutes of national importance. The NIRF Ranking for Engineering 2020 is 66 and 46 respectively.
- If you want to join the Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) branch, IIIT Guwahati is the only choice because NIT Silchar does not offer this branch.
- But for others, like Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE), NITS will be the best selection.
- Even the alumni of NITS are biased towards their institute.
- The campus of IIIT Guwahati is new. The institute is well-equipped but yet far behind NITS.
- IIT Guwahati has a weaker base of alumni. The reason is that it came into existence after NITS.

I chose nit silchar not only for its academic excellence but also because of its structured and TRANSPARENT fee system which, although increasing slightly over the years, remains affordable compared to private instituition aslo the sc st students did not have to pay anything they just had to pay the mess fee, which is very less. The fee is 1 lac 50 thousand.

- Course curriculum is ok ok although it needs some improvement as some of the syllabus portion is very old. The faculty member here is knowledgeable and well experienced and their interaction is also nice but some of them are bit strict.

The yearly fees for obc category income between 1 lakh - 5 lakh is 63,666.
Examination fees is 1200.
Admission fee is 1000.
Library fee is 500.
Sports fee is 1500.
Fees for income more than5 lakh is 145,200.
Fees for less than 1 lakh is 25,200.
Scholarships available are NSP(National Scholarship Portal),ONGC etc for obc and general category.

- The course curriculum is not relevant in industry in campus mostly things are old type
- Here industry Exposer are very less. Mostly things are only theory base.

The yearly fee structure for the course for the course includes tuition fees, hostel fees,mess fees and other charges such as exam and library fees. On average, tuition fees range from sc/st/under_1_lac is 10000 and for 1_to_5lac is around 35000 and for upper 5_lac is 75000. And the hostel fees is 23000.
The total cost for the complete course around 8 lac for upper 5_lac. The fees have seen a slight increase of around 5% in recent years due to inflation ans rising operational costs. Scholarships are available, including merit-based scholarship for acadamically outstanding students, need based aid for economically weaker sections and government funded schemes for minorities or reserved categories

Early free I pay 67000, and this be includes every fees like tuition admission charges and and other compulsory charges. My category is general EWS less than 100000 that's why my tuition fee is only 11000. And my hostel fees 22500. There are many categories so if you are from general category then you have to pay 50000 tuition fee and 22500 hostel fee, hostel fees same for everyone and if you are from income of 125 then your tuition few would be 33000 and if you are incoming is less than 1 lakh then your question few would be around 11000 and this for the SC/ST category also. There are lot of national or state board scholarship our college also allows to apply for National scholarship portal.

I am belong to sc category and for sc category there is no tution fee. But I pay 1.6 lack per year for hostel , mess , and some extra facilities like medical , sports .
But comparison to other nits fee is very decent for nit Silchar.

The semester wise tution fees is around 110000(GEN/EWS/OBC and family income gtreater than 5 Lakh) ,
If your family income is in between 1 to 5 lakh(GEN/EWS/OBC) than you get a 2/3rd tution fee wavier and if it is below than 1 Lakh than you get full tution fee wavier and also if you are from SC/ST then also full tution fee wavier. As for hostel+mess fee every body have to pay around 22500 per semester there you won't get any tution fee wavier.
Many scholarships like NSP,PMSS,Bharti Airtel Scholarship, and many more scholarships are guven.

My family income is in between 1lakhs to 5 lakhs due to this my college fees per semester is Rs 55833 and per year is Rs 111666 .Hostel fee rent is 2300 per semester and mess fee is 22500 per semester.
