Placement and alumini: the institute has an immense alumini network along with the placement cell which attracts the top high paying companies ensuring good job opportunities for the students.it also enables research and further studies.
I appreciate nitc's commitment to academic excellence, with a strong faculty and diverse range of courses that provide a well-rounded education.
I like the cultural fests like festivals being celebrated here which is very nice .

Dislikes

In nit calicut gym was not free we want pay for it this thing i really hatred
Fees are very high when we compared to other nits nit calicut collecting more fees which becoming heavy burden to poor students like me they don't even giving concession most of the people are not getting scholarships
Our hostels are too old and actually it is alloted for 3 people but they are keeping 4 people in a room wash rooms are also not so good.

Glimpse of National Institute of Technology Calicut

Faculties are well educated knowledgeable and dedicated foe their work.
College life of students is also good here in compare to many other NITs. New hostels are very good for living and college is working continuously to improve their infrastructure.
Here a dedicated placement cell is working for the betterment of students and helping students to get placement and internships easily.

Dislikes

Students are overburden here because of strict attendance criteria 80%, and professors are very strict to follow this. Students are getting very less time to work on other things or to prepare for other exams.
Coding culture is also not up to the mark. If anyone from other than CSE/ECE wants to do coding then he/she have to put a lot of extra efforts on his/her own.
Whole campus is scattered few hostels is outside the main campus playground is also away, students is getting difficulty to come to class.

Placement Experience:

After 7th semester onward students become eligible for campus placement. More than 150 companies visit every year for internships and placements and more than 1500 students are getting placed including B.Tech and M.Tech. Average pakage vary between 8 to 15 lakh depends upon branch and highest salary is aroung 60 lakh. around 85% students are getting placed. I will pre[are for civil service exam after getting degree.

NIT Calicut, the fit option for your Engineering Life

The amount of technical and cultural clubs at the college to nurture talents as well as technical skills outside of the given syllabus.
The amazing cultural and technical fests of NITC, known throughout India.
The amount of resources the college provides for students to grow in studies such as the central library with a plethora of books readily available, digitally and offline.

Dislikes

Sometimes, administration lacks in providing proper service. Many of my collegemates have complained about delays in fee related issues being resolved.
Lack of footpaths in the campus, leading to students having to walk on the road, being very risky.
Not enough buses for students to traverse from A to B, considering the fact that the campus is about 300 acres and students need to get classes on time.

Placements for the other branches are quite attractive here at NITC. Highest placement packages go upto 50LPA. Average is at around 9-10LPA. A huge number of companies come to NITC. In the case of Engineering Physics, more than placements, people opt for the research pathway, higher studies and then a PhD and research. One of the benefits of choosing Engineering Physics is, you wouldnt need a masters degree to take a PhD, if you have CGPA above a threshhold. My plans after the degree are to do higher studies, I am still discovering my interests in the field, but I have made my mind to not go the placement pathway. However, there are more placements in Engineering Physics lately. Since a lot of electronics based courses have been added, companies such as Texas Instruments have been looking for EP students for placements.

College experience I have gained

Likes

Hostel facility I liked so much cause it is near to main building where classes happen
College infrastructure is very good and excellent to stay and move around
Computer and library are having best facilities to enjoy

Dislikes

College main ground is very far away to go and play everyday
Ground inside the college is very small to play games for many people
College is in hilly area and having slopes to climb everytime we move around

Placement Experience:

Campus has placements at a good rate of nearly 90 percent of the students attending for interview get placements from the college some students opt to go to higher studies they are not included and people who didn't clear subjects get remained

Average experience of a student at NITC

We have a vast campus of various cultures and religions living together, opportunities avaliable here are plenty, lots of sources to gain knowledge, a large library with thousands of books in it, extraordinary faculty and self learning oriented
Objective is to learn the concept not to byheart them
We can make a good circle of friends from various parts of India

Dislikes

Here some faculty are extraordinary but as usual some other faculty like one or two, they teach us very good,but we don't understand
Here pressure is more, hard to cope up with classes and other culturals
Due to 50npercent of the population are from the same state, it is very hard for the other state people who speak other language to form a good friend cirlcle

Placement Experience:

Placements here are very good. I heard from seniors that almost everyone who sits for the placements here get placed. The only thing is we should have good cgpa and technical skills and soft skills and also good coding skills for the people who wanna join IT sector. Famous companies like google, amazon come here every year and there are plenty oppurtiunites to prove ourselves. The people who wanna opt for higher studies can write GATE exam and study their post graduation and PHD in their desired colleges. From 5th and 6th semister students people get placement oppourtunities. Almost every company visits this college as this is tier 1 college. My plans after getting a degree is, I will opt for higher studies and PHD

I having the best memories in this college. I had fun with every festival,fest and club activities. Expecially at the time of onam we had great fun. There are 2 fest in the college . Ragam cultural fest and Tathva technical fest.
Education is properly taught by the skilled professors and lectures. Digital classrooms are provied. Digital and non Digital library are provided. Big computer center also there. Doubts are clarified in the class it self .
Quality of classrooms and labs are provided for respective department. Its actually green campus . Daily washroom and classroom room are cleaned properly .

Dislikes

I dont have much dislikes about the college but sometimes its very long to walk to the classes from hostels.

Placement Experience:

Actually im studying 3rd in the campus . Im not placed yet. But the placement process are properly managed. Big big companies like Google Infosys etc visit our campus. Most of my seniors are placed . Min package is 12 for the respective departments. Im eagerly waiting for my placement.

My college life

Likes

The class timing are convenient. We have only 3-4 classes per day
Nit Calicut is purely nature. The campus is just beautiful
The washrooms are so neat even though they’re common

Dislikes

The girls ratio is very low like, in a class of 88 people there are only 15 girls
Classrooms are dirty sometimes. The help workers don’t clean the classrooms frequently
The campus is so big that it allow wild animals inside too

LIFE IN NIT CALICUT

Campus have good infra structure. 300 acres huge campus. Full of greenery and good views also.
We have the south indias largest cultural fest ragam and tecnical fest thathva.
Teaching methode is also good. All classes by english. And professors are very experienced.

Placement Experience:

The higjest placement package is 70 lakhs. And average package is 7 lakhs. In department of computer science all students got placed previous year. My plan after degree is get PG. Placed companies like samsung, godreg, lg, etc.

Likes

Hostel, infrastructure environment and many more things
Vast variety of culture and there are people form different states

Not much but the more burden of studies is a bit more

I am doing production Engineering which is a really interesting course as it is like mechanical engineering but it is bit more intresting than that as the subjects are not that much lengthy and more about basics of industries

Academic and Campus life in NIT Calicut

Likes

The campus life with technical fests and various sports activities available there
Message facilities and various types of food available which is delicious and cheap
Friendly staffs and a very clean campus , and also various facilities like computer centre and library available for the students

Dislikes

The academic life is little hectic for the students and some class rooms lack proper facilities
The hostel for the first year is really old and the rooms lack proper wardrobe facilities

The campus placements here is pretty decent , with an average of 15 lpa and for courses like eee ece and cse it would be higher with many tech companies mainly coming for the placements percentage of students places is really high

My sister completed her B.Tech from NIT Calicut a few years back. As a female student, she had a bitter experience at this college. Here are some of the things that she noticed during her stay at NIT Calicut-

The girls hostel is very strict regarding outings. There is a fixed curfew from 7 pm to 6 am. Even for staying on campus after 7 pm, special permission is required.
There are instances where you might encounter racism in the most casual manner, this is especially true for North Indian students.
The hostel and college staff are blatantly partial towards female students and those who complain are told to leave the college.
There is a system of daily roll call for female hostellers, which is again a gender-biased rule. The Resident Tutors are not supportive or helpful and may scold you for not attending the roll call even if you are new and not well aware of the hostel procedures.
During LAN work or other repairs, no female attendee is present with the male workers within the girls hostel premises. The girls are expected to follow all the precautionary measures and no strict rules are laid for the male workers.

NIT Calicut is an institute of national importance with an excellent reputation and great placement records. However, as a female hosteller, my sister faced these obstacles which caused unnecessary frustration for her.
