Placement and alumini: the institute has an immense alumini network along with the placement cell which attracts the top high paying companies ensuring good job opportunities for the students.it also enables research and further studies.
I appreciate nitc's commitment to academic excellence, with a strong faculty and diverse range of courses that provide a well-rounded education.
I like the cultural fests like festivals being celebrated here which is very nice .

Dislikes

In nit calicut gym was not free we want pay for it this thing i really hatred
Fees are very high when we compared to other nits nit calicut collecting more fees which becoming heavy burden to poor students like me they don't even giving concession most of the people are not getting scholarships
Our hostels are too old and actually it is alloted for 3 people but they are keeping 4 people in a room wash rooms are also not so good.

Great campus with splendid exposure to wide variety of activities and culture.

Dislikes

College is imposing more curfew restrictions

Placement Experience:

The top companies often visit nit for campus placement.Generally we need to maintain above 7.5CGPA.The college recorded highest package for CS dept.The average placement records about 13 lakhs and highest of about 67 lakhs.Comapnies like Oracle,L and T,Atlassian, Texas Instrumenta,Google come to nit.

NITC in a glimpse

Likes

A campus with scenic views and a lot of good locations for hanging out
Good faculties and teaching methods, good facility of labs
New academic curriculum is fantastic as it emphasise more on specific course also more ibcrease in number of electives

Course Curriculum Overview:

New updated curriculum is the biggest highlight in NITC, department specific courses are taught from first semester and you cab take up to 8 open electives in total and other electives you take is a lot kore than you can think. Also minor courses are also offered.

NIT in a glimpse

Likes

Campus is very big and beautiful. Buses are available for transport within the campus
Green campus . Vehicles are not allowed inside campus for students and therefore it is safer .
Good connections between seniors and juniors . Faculty members are really helpful . Good for research .

Dislikes

Exams are very tough and teaching can be improved
Lot of crows leading to crow dump throughout the campus
This year college technical and cultural fest was not conducted due to internal issues .

Placement Experience:

Placements are good in our campus . Since india is having lesser opportunities now , there is a small decrease in placement percentage . The packages offered are good ranging from 7 to 35 lpa . Some Students opt for higher studies and hence do not participate in placement drive .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The new curriculum happening in NIT calicut is very good. As final year can be concentrated to placement and for future opportunities. And the practical sessions in the curriculum is also helpful. As exams are happening only twice a sem that is veey helpful to study and understand the subject

Why you should choose NIT calicut

Likes

The college ranks 23rd in NIRF ranking among engineering colleges
Nit Calicut provide good placement packages
The college provides student to improve their skills than academics

Dislikes

The location of college is 20 km from kozhikode town.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum provided by the college is at the best these includes all the necessary aspects of the course and the faculty members are very strict in following the curriculum.Also exams are conducted whic includes class tests for internals and a mid sem exam and an endsem exam every semester.

My Experience at NIT Calicut

For guidance there are great professors and every one is very helping in nature in terms of guidance, doubt solving and there is no restriction for you in selecting any teacher to ask you do like.
campus life will be great if you are an extrovert kind of person and like to interact with people and as a hindi speaker for me it is great that there i can improve my communication skills by talking with the native students who don't know hindi.
for placements there is special facility as carrer developement point where they will guide you during placements and there are seniors who already got pre placement offer who can guide in terms of placement preperation.

Dislikes

if you are person who is purely vegiterian then i can say that you will not find veg food as good as your state's food. even in the restaurents you will not find variety except one or two dishes which also you will not find so good in taste.
in attendance prospective teachers are very strict in this matter. there is a rule of min 80% attendance which means you can take maximum 6-8 leaves only. if you took more than this without any proper reason with certification then you have to repeat
infrastructure is also a thing you may not find it good because campus is divided in several parts due to main road passing through. but now construction work is going on for underground subway then i think you may get some relief for that shortcut.

Placement Experience:

Placements are quite good and in terms of placements, this college comes under the top 5 nits in India. after 4th semester students get opportunities to get internships and in internships, many companies offer PPO (pre-placement offer) to them. and after the 6th semester companies start coming for placements and till the fourth year many of them get placed just wait to get the degree. in 2023 companies like Atlassian, Barclays, Bharat Petroleum, Bharat Electronics, Accenture, bajaj, Axis Bank, etc offered a total of 1144 offers. in 2023 the highest package was 47 lakhs and the average was around 14.36 lakhs. 84.76% of total registered students got placed in 2023 placements. I will get job in the company related to robotics or i will study abroad for robotics and automation.

NITC- A review

Likes

The campus is big and the college has mostly every facility required to upgrade your cv and get good internships and placements
The faculties are good and help you with any problems you are facing.

Dislikes

This year we had our fests cancelled due to some reason. The campus isn't that active on an entertainment basis
There's a language barrier for people coming from other parts of India, not just in campus but if you need anything else too.

Academics providing freedom for students
All sports facilities are providing and supporting
Supporting for placements and higher studies

NIT CALICUT ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Great infrastructure,Nit Calicut provides great infrastructure which gives the ambience and mood for extracurricular activities as well as studying
Library is very big and has a large number of books in wide variety of genres
CCD and computer centres in NIT Calicut is very efficient and well working almost 100 computers are there for general use with wifi provided in almost all parts of the campus

Dislikes

Sports is very bad or infact not given enough importance in the campus we have a strong set of athletes in our campus but are not using their full potential
Freedom of expression is almost nullified we as the student body have no noise,recently

Placement Experience:

Placements in Nit Calicut is one of the best in India.This year has shown a very big spike in the recruitments from a variety of national and international companies offering very good packages.IT fields are holding up with core fields in terms of internships and campus placements

Life at NITC

Likes

The campus atmosphere and the lab facilities
There are facilities to fullfill all our academic needs.
The hostel facilities are also really good.

Dislikes

As it is a vast campus we have to walk a lot
There is bus services from this hostel to campus but still we cannot depend everytime on the bus timings
The new mega hostel is a bit far from campus so students have to walk all that distance

There is campus placements in our college.7th semester students are eligible for campus placements and lot of companies visit our campus including core,management and tech companies.For IT people the highest salary package is around 40 lakh per annum,more than 80% of students will get placed in every branch on an average and I am planning to continue my studies after the graduation

My sister completed her B.Tech from NIT Calicut a few years back. As a female student, she had a bitter experience at this college. Here are some of the things that she noticed during her stay at NIT Calicut-

The girls hostel is very strict regarding outings. There is a fixed curfew from 7 pm to 6 am. Even for staying on campus after 7 pm, special permission is required.
There are instances where you might encounter racism in the most casual manner, this is especially true for North Indian students.
The hostel and college staff are blatantly partial towards female students and those who complain are told to leave the college.
There is a system of daily roll call for female hostellers, which is again a gender-biased rule. The Resident Tutors are not supportive or helpful and may scold you for not attending the roll call even if you are new and not well aware of the hostel procedures.
During LAN work or other repairs, no female attendee is present with the male workers within the girls hostel premises. The girls are expected to follow all the precautionary measures and no strict rules are laid for the male workers.

NIT Calicut is an institute of national importance with an excellent reputation and great placement records. However, as a female hosteller, my sister faced these obstacles which caused unnecessary frustration for her.
