Placement Experience:

Companies start recruiting students when they are in their third semester. However, every company demand the students to complete the degree and then join the job. Companies that visited the English department are Waterpump company modelled at Alipore, hiring for marketing, editorial work offering pay of 3LPA, Cognizant hiring for technical writer offering pay of 4 LPA, Adrosonic hiring for content writing offering pay of 4.5 LPA. Azim Premji foundation hiring for Associate, offering a payment of 5 LPA. The majority of the students go for government jobs like UPSC, WBCS, PSC, SSC CLG, higher education or to pursue a PhD from top-notch universities abroad and in India. 60 per cent of students sit for placements and bag all the opportunities. I belong to the majority of the students who aspire to stay in the field of academia. The curriculum of the university developed a passion for learning, imbibing and further research for scholars to come up with research, my plan is to be an educator.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this of BA in Sociology course as this course curriculum is pretty good for civil services exams and I am quite passionate about the subject. The faculty students ratio is 1:5 approximately. The faculties are very much qualified with most teachers having a minimum PhD and a good teaching experience in the subject. There are semester exams every 6 months and also mid term tests which are conducted every 3 months.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had a knack for Biology. Tried for Medical entrance, didn't make it. So, took the entrance exams of Zoology and Botany at Presidency College. In Zoology, I was behind in the merit list, didn't make it up to the cut. Ended up with Botany. Student to faculty ratio was 1:2, for 26 students in a batch, the Botany department(now Biological Science) had 13 faculty. Obviously, not all faculty took classes simultaneously in a year. Most of the faculty was old school, chalk-blackboard oriented. It changed dramatically in five years I studied till Masters, as Presidency became University. Teachers retired, new foreign return faculty were recruited. Bachelor exams were difficult. Since bachelor in Presidency was under Univerisity of Calcutta, and marks were hard to get. These two changed after college became deemed university. I was there during the transition of the institute, it might look confusing now.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I started to like mathematics in my school. So I decided to pursue my career in this field. So I chose BSc Hons. Mathematics. Now our department has 13 faculties and the number of students in my class is 54. Our faculties are all well qualified. The teaching method is good in my opinion teachers are very helpful and always tries to solve all our queries. The time between every semester is nearly 5 to 6months as well as mid-sem exams are also conducted right in the middle time of every semester. But if one learns all the papers properly and practice questions from every chapter and make their concept well about the papers then it is not too hard to pass in the exams in my opinion.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I always wanted to study political science. Contrary to what people generally think, political science is not only good for UPSC or other government administrative jobs but is also required for developing skills for both the for-profit sector and the non-profit one. There were 11 professors, very well equipped from well-known institutions like SOAS, Oxford, Jadavpur University, JNU etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I was a arts student it in class 12. I like the English subject very much and I got a good number in English in 12th class. You must have above 80% in 12th exam to qualify in the admission process. The teachers of the college are very good person they help us a lot in study. Exams were divided in semesters. Per year there are 2 semistars. The exam were easy for who studied and hard for who didn't.

There are regularities in our Placement cell. PG students are most likely to get placement after the completion of the course. The companies' list can be viewed on the website. I, personally don't have a hurried placement interest

Placement Experience:

The placement cell is currently inactive. Departments like Statistics, Economics have some placement programs after graduation and post-graduation, though less in number. Being a student of humanities, we do not get to know about the companies visit for campusing and number of offers the make. Hardly 10-15% of students get placements.
