Dr. G. Devadas is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and the Dean of Planning and Development at CMR College of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad. He obtained his B.Tech degree in 1997 from Nagarjuna University and his M.Tech degree in 2002 with a specialisation in Power Systems and Automation from Andhra University. He was also awarded his PhD from JNTU Hyderabad.
Dr. Devadas has 21 years of teaching experience, during which he has taught various subjects like Electrical Machines, Power Systems and Control Systems, etc. His research interests include Power Quality, Wavelet Transforms, and Neural and Fuzzy Expert Systems. He guided several in-house projects for both UG and PG students and published 16 papers in journals of repute and in different conferences. He has undertaken two research funded projects titled “Frequency Control and Voltage Control of Wind Power Systems” and “Analysis of Power Quality Disturbances and Fault Detection Using Adaptive Wavelet Network.”

In your 21+ years of experience, what are the special practices at the CMR CET institution that you observed and you would like to highlight?
In my extensive experience, a standout practice at CMR College of Engineering and Technology is the strong emphasis on practical learning and hands-on experiences in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) department. The integration of theoretical knowledge with real-world applications enhances students' understanding. CMR CET's commitment to research and innovation, evident in faculty-led projects, contributes to an intellectually stimulating environment. Collaborations with industry partners further enrich students' exposure to current trends, fostering holistic development.
Technology is evolving rapidly; how do you stay updated with the latest trends and incorporate them into the EEE department's curriculum at CMR CET?
To stay abreast of technological trends, I actively engage in continuous learning through conferences and workshops. The EEE curriculum is designed with flexibility to accommodate updates. Regular reviews ensure alignment with industry needs. Industry interactions and faculty development programs enhance expertise. This approach aims to equip students with the latest skills needed for success in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
How do you handle the positions of HOD EEE and Dean of Planning & Development simultaneously?
Balancing the HOD and Dean roles involves effective time management and delegation. As HOD, I focus on academic leadership, curriculum development, and faculty management. As Dean of Planning and Development, I engage in strategic planning and collaborations. Delegating tasks ensures synergy, aligning departmental objectives with broader institutional goals for growth and development.
