What's it to be a FERGUSSONIAN

Likes

The infrastructure is wonderful, you really get to feel that college vibes.
The campus is quite vast with almost all the requirements well fulfilled.
The departments are worth to be top ranking in Maharashtra. Specifically in Physics Department we have a AstroClub.

Dislikes

To maintain the vintageness of the campus many thinks aren't changed.
The online website isn't up to date , you need to verify some things offline.

Course Curriculum Overview:

One thing I would say which isn't to the mark is the curriculum of the course. The flow of basics to advanced is not well maintained. Rather subtopics are completed without interrelating them with the other parts of the course. The applications in real life are hard to figures out.The curriculum should start with very basics of each topics and then go for the advancement. The exams take place semester wise after every 6 months and the internals take place in between the two semester exams.

College campus very big at best part it is situated at centre of city so there is no connectivity issue. There is many plants and greenery around the campus so it is give very beautiful experience in the college.
I'm pursued my course in jr.college but the college faculty in that also very good. I can't expected these type of help any college do. Also teaching also fabulous the are topper in that field. Such a nice experience in the college
College practical lab also very good they are well equipped and in chemistry lab all kind chemical also there available at any time these is very good thing I though. And specimens at zoology lab in very good condition and well preserved

Dislikes

There is some things to complain about college but they nil in front of they providing facility in the college I dislike personally in college travel college and lab distance more than 500m these one thing I hate when I was exaust
Second thing college hostel infra very old scary some rooms has leakage during monsoon they fixed it haan they have to build new Hostel building

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course was very good and also get very practical knowledge about my course so can say that you take college without thinking other things. The exam pattern also good every month we have to give small test and at end of semister we have to give big test.

The area around fergusson is very sociable and have loads of options.

Dislikes

The government faculty is too lazy, they never take any complaints or requests into consideration quickly
I live very far from college and was looking for hostels but fc’s hostel condition is very bad even for girls

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose psychology because it was what influenced me. Because in a country like India people are not much aware about psychology and mental health. The curriculum provides pretty nice education and information regarding the subject. But i have no idea regarding the placements. I think that they barely provide any kind of placements which is very frustrating because the students compete very hard to get into a college like fergusson. When we are givibg exams, i feel like the time span should be a little expanded as psychology is a very lengthy paper.

Review of Fergusson College Pune: Everything covered

Likes

College is very prestigious. It earn you respect amongst the people if you are studying in this college
College is very happening festivals, seminars various programmes on various occasions happens frequently
Campus is very good..blessed with nature and trees and fresh air..buildings are old so it gives you vintage vibes..also campus is buzzed with beautiful girls

Dislikes

Washroom facilities is not upto the standard of the college also some classroom are not well maintained
Teachers and their teaching method is not good they are not serious about their jobs

Course Curriculum Overview:

1) The course is aligned in such a way that it also covers the syllabus of any competitive exam like upsc 2) The syllabus make you go through various reading materials instead of just sticking to one material..it helps to dwelev upon many thoughts process 3) The college timings should be like 9-1..so it can help many students to attend the lecture regularly as many students live far away from college 4) There are 6 semester and each semester contain one end semester exam and Ce1 of assignment and Ce2 of objective questions.. difficulty level of exam is quite easy you can refer to some pyq and you can easily predict the question

First Year at Fergusson College

Likes

Campus: A huge campus to hang around with friends.
Fests: Amazing week of fests, where cultural and modern fields come together and set fire on stage
Flexibility: With the new NEP commencement, students have availed more flexibility in there subjects choices.

Dislikes

Faculty: Average faculty around, tho they take feedback after each semester.
Placements: Very few and negligible placement here according to seniors

Placement Experience:

Very few college placement here in college with average of 3.5 LPA. Though we can apply apple off campus where we have greater chances to get placed as Fergusson is reputed college. Most probably I'll get a master's degree rather than job.

Life at Fergusson

Likes

First of all the buildings and the architecture of the college is so aesthetic and mesmerising. The campus is free from all kind of distrative noises. And there are many trees in the campus.
The curriculum of the college is well designed and better than any other colleges in Pune and overall Maharashtra. The teaching staff and non teching staff is very helpful. The teaching method of the professors there is just outstanding.
Each and every professor there is excellent in their respective subject. And most of them are alumni of the big institutions of India like IIT, IISER, JNU, DU, NIT, IUCAA, etc.

Dislikes

There is no such thing to dislike the college

Placement Experience:

There's placement for the students of BCs, BSc Statistics, BSc Mathematics, and other departments. For some departments there is no such placements as that courses requiers masters degree. Talking about statistics, computer science there are plentiful placements.

Ferguson College and Me

Likes

College campus, departments and infrastructure.
Experienced Faculty which provides maximum knowledge and opportunity for research oriented studies.
Better crowd than other bachelor's colleges

Dislikes

No wifi in campus, even if it written on college site
Central canteen which is uncleaned and poor infrastructure

Placement Experience:

As far as I know , this course is for research oriented students and 90% of students choose further studies over placements. Talking about placements, FC provides campus placements and companies like Lupin , Cipla and other well known pharmaceutical companies recruit from FC. Average package is around 4.5 to 5LPA.

A peak in the life of a University student.

Ferguson college is a prestigious institution and being a part of it for my graduation was a honour. I love the teaching faculty for English literature. That are all very experienced and knowledgeable. They are also extremely approachable.
The college campus is very serene. As you enter the college through the gigantic gates, you experience and different world as compared to the husle bustle of Pune. The greenary and the magnificent architect of the building might leave you in awe.
The college has all the facilities that are necessary for students from library to girls recreation hall. From a ground to walking tracks. From computer labs and canteens and from basketball court to tennis court. You have it all here.

Dislikes

The stray dogs sometimes can be a hazard for students but most of those are friendly too.
Most of the population in Pune prefer Marathi for communication which is also seen inside the college premises and that might be a bit problematic sometimes
The presence of politically lead organisation can be bit of a problem when you don't really wanna be a part of it.

Course Curriculum Overview:

For English literature course, the syllabus is quite comprehensive. It is divided into three fiction, drama and poetry. Fir fiction and drama the history part is very good and interesting but for poetry we have a lot of poems and not the history part.

How is Fergusson College from my perspective?

Likes

Will get diverse options to explore individual. Teachers are very much supportive and helpful.
Students are brilliant in Fergusson College. Individual Will get good campus life.
College provides lot of opportunities for students. If I will get chance to choose again college for BSC definitely i will choose Fergusson only...

Dislikes

Somewhere silent person will not able to explore himself.
You will not get to see much placements after BSC but there are good placement after masters.

Placement Experience:

After BSC computer Science there are less placements in college but after masters are good placements in college. After BSC package will get in between 3.5 to 5 lakh. After masters packages are in between 5 to 12 lakh.

My overall experience with Fergusson college was extremely good

Dislikes

Nothing to dislike tye collge everything is fine
But should increase the timings of library
And also for hostel in and out timings facilities should be provided
