IISER Kolkata Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

Courses at IISER Kolkata are not like usual curriculum in state or central Universities in India. IISER Kolkata 's academic curriculum is quite similar to that of US and European Universities. The focus of the curriculum is to teach and train us to make us researchers. So the courses are quite relevant if someone wants a career in research. Exams are very frequent in iiser Kolkata, apart from the mid semester and end semester exams, there are regular quizzes/class tests/surprisetests/assignments/grades tutorial problems every week.

There are two examinations corrected every semester that is the mid semester examination. At the end semester examination. The teaching methods are very well thought the faculties are okay with taking questions In the class itself

Placement options in this college is quite good the people in college don't usually go for placements in Companies moreover they try to seek PhD options as you can easily get a PhD with a good grade abroad in reputed colleges

The course is excellent. BSMS is a relatively new concept in india and it is quite successful. Faculties of iisers are very experienced in their respective fields. They are very supportive and ready to take doubts in the class .

Students become eligible to placements from the fourth year here they might get placed into some companies or get selected for a PhD abroad. Most of the placements take place in the fifth year where colleges from abroad come to our campus and give PhD opportunities to students with a very good pay. The placement cell is also very furnished part of the campus and it gives placement to students who want To opt for a job most of the students do not want to do a job after doing their BSMS degree. They would rather like to pursue PhD under a reputed professor in a reputed college abroad.

The chemistry department of this college is one of the best in India. The faculties are very good highly educated and top class researchers. They provide everything related to study material. They have nothing to improve the facilities are best. The exams are quite a bit hard.

As a first year student er have to study every subject like maths physics chemistry bio computer and Earth science. I had a strong aspect for research in bio mainly cellular Biology that's why I took this college.

This college is for those who wants phd or post doc.. so here is opportunity cell not placement cell.. if want good job.. then you have to find yourself.. but course quality is good enough.. and institute is very well known.. here 30% students go for placement and mean package is 7lpa.. but opportunity for phd or post doc is very good.. you will easily find scholarship

As a first year student, I don't know much about the placements. But my goal is to complete the bsms course and get a PhD offer from a good University. Because even if the college has placements. The amount is not so much.

This curriculum provides a deeper understanding in the mathematical aspect of computer science and machine learning, although it also has many addition course combined for the first two years of college, you will be able to choose a major in third year . It has a little bit of real world applications but it can can be a solid foundation for future academics you will take. The curriculum is packed with many exams and can be different to deal with , as there and multiple class tests and mid/end sem exams with high difficulty but overall it is a good choice.
