The counselling process for West Bengal BTech admission is conducted online by the WBJEEB. Candidates with valid WJEE or JEE Main score cards can appear in the process. You can register at the beginning of round 1 and the mop-up round. Unregistered candidates are not considered for allocation, except for those attending the mop-up round. The WBJEE counselling process has the following steps.

  • Registration - During registration, you have to provide personal information, application number, passing status and marks You can select NA if a subject does not apply to you. You also have to pay the INR 500 registration fee.
  • Choice Filling - After paying the fee, you can proceed to choice filling. You can arrange the selected colleges as per your priority. TFW seats are shown as separate choices for every institution. You should select maximum choices for higher chances of allotment.
  • Choice Locking - You should lock your choices within the specified time. If you fail to lock your choices, then the last saved choices will be automatically locked.
  • Allotment - Allotment is based on the input given by the candidates. You can check your allotment on the official portal. You have to pay the refundable seat acceptance fee of INR 5,000 online and download the allotment letter. If you do not pay the fee, your allotment will be cancelled and you will not be considered for the upgradation round. You can also opt for upgradation after accepting the current allotment.
  • Document Verification and Admission - You have to report to the allocated institute with the allotment letter and other documents for physical verification. Your allotment will be cancelled and you will not be considered for the upgradation round if you do not report for the document verification.

The seat acceptance fee is transferred to the allocated institute after the counselling process. You can ask the institute for a refund if you do not take the admission. If you have paid the seat acceptance fee in any earlier rounds, it will be considered for the mop-up round allotment.

If you are allotted your first preferred seat, you have to freeze it and you will not be considered for the upgradation round. If you are allotted a seat of your second or later preference, you can opt for no upgradation if you wish. However, you will not be considered for the mop-up round.

Candidates who did not get any allotment in round 1, who opted for upgradation in round 1 and had their allotment cancelled in round 1 can appear in round 2. There is no scope for further upgradation. You cannot reverse the upgrade and claim your earlier allotment back.

Participating in the mop-up round is optional.
