July 15, 2026 is the standard application deadline for most German public universities for Winter Semester 2026/27. This is confirmed on the official Uni-Assist deadlines page.
But July 15 is the absolute last date — not the safe date.
Uni-Assist itself recommends submitting at least 8 weeks before the deadline. For Indian applicants, Uni-Assist processing takes approximately 2 weeks from the date the online application is received. If you submit on July 14 and a document is missing, there is no time to fix it.
The safe submission date for Indian students: May 15, 2026.

The most important thing: RWTH Aachen's application portal for Winter 2026/27 does not open until May 4, 2026. University of Stuttgart opens May 15. If you are targeting these universities, you cannot even submit yet — but you can and should be preparing all documents now.

What the Visa Timeline Means for Winter Intake 2026 Deadlines
The German student visa adds another 10 to 16 weeks to the total timeline after you receive your admission letter.

Based on where the deadlines stand as of April 10, 2026, here is the exact action sequence.
April 10 to 17:
