BHU Receives INR 10 Lakh Donation To Originated Two New Scholarships

New Delhi: After receiving a donation of Rs 10 lakh from Late Pandit Ganga Ratan Pandey and his wife Jagrani Pandey, the Banaras Hindu University has initiated two scholarships.

Under the Pratidana programme of BHU, Prakash and Arun Pandey made the donation in the loving memory of their parents.

The scholarships will be available to MA Hindi students based on merit and financial needs, according to Professor Ramesh Chand, advisor for alumni relations and university promotion at BHU. The scholarship would be awarded to one male and one female student enrolled in the master's programme.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Sudhir Kumar Jain introduced the Pratidana programme in February 2022.

The program's objectives include, enhancing learning opportunities, fostering excellence in teaching, and facilitating relevant research. It also supports scholarships for deserving students and need-based financial help.

According to a BHU official statement, Ganga Ratan Pandey completed both his undergraduate and graduate degrees there. He was imprisoned in 1942 while an MA in Hindi student because he supported the Quit India Movement. He was a renowned author and writer who made a significant contribution to Hindi literature.
