CUET UG 2024 Schedule Will Not Change Due to Lok Sabha Elections, Confirms UGC Chairman

New Delhi: UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar has confirmed that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG 2024 will take place as scheduled despite the Lok Sabha Elections. In a Tweet on March 17, 2024, Kumar reconfirmed that the CUET UG would take place between May 15 and May 31, 2024. 

Kumar shared that the elections would not cause any adjustments to CUET UG 2024 exam schedule. He further added that only two dates of the exam clash with the elections: May 20, 2024, and May 25, 2024. 

NTA will conduct CUET-UG, as announced earlier, between May 15 and May 31, 2024. In this period, two dates overlap with the election dates on 20 and 25 May.

UGC Chairman mentioned that the National Testing Agency (NTA) would release the date sheet for the CUET UG between May 15 and May 31, 2024, based on the number of students that have registered for CUET-UG 2024 and how they are distributed geographically. 

What’s New About CUET UG 2024?

This year, the NTA has made the CUET-UG a hybrid examination. This means that the CUET UG 2024 can be attempted both as a Computer Based Test (CBT) and in a pen-and-paper format featuring answer sheets with optical mark recognition (OMR). 

According to officials, the subjects that have high registration volumes will go ahead with a pen-and-paper format, and other subjects will use CBT to carry out their tests. The number of subjects available for the CUET UG 2024 has also been reduced from 10 to 6.
