New Delhi: On the occasion of the university's Centenary Alumni Meet, Vice Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh announced that the University of Delhi (DU) is planning to launch a Competency Enhancement Course under which one could enrol in a specific course rather than a whole programme
. He stated that the programme would begin in July 2023 and the college had created a programme called Samarth. The Samarth portal will now host all Central Universities, IITs, NITs, and other prestigious institutions in the nation.
At the university's Centenary Alumni Meet, Hardeep Puri, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas was the special guest. In his address, he talked about the accomplishments of the university's graduates. He claimed that 12 Supreme Court justices, four Chief Justices of the Supreme Court, including Justice DY Chandrachud, and two alumni of DU had won the Nobel Prize.
He said that he had entered the university's gate for the first time 55 years ago today. The Union Minister emphasised the significance of Hindu College and Delhi University in his life, claiming that these institutions made him what he is today. After completing his studies in 1974 and spending a year working as a teacher at St. Stephen's College, he got an opportunity to join the foreign services.He claimed that Delhi University is a fantastic organisation with an illustrious past and India has benefited greatly from this university.
At the event, the University of Delhi Foundation's logo and website were also unveiled by the Chief Guest. Professor Yogesh Singh, vice chancellor of the University of Delhi, presided over the event and gave a thorough report on the institution.
According to him, the institution has established the Udmodaya Foundation, a Section 8 corporation to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup culture.
In addition to this, a different business, the University of Delhi Foundation, was established to foster communication between well-wishers and university graduates.
The Vice-Chancellor stated that their goal is to raise INR 1,000 crore for this and asked for donations from university alumni to help in this cause. He stated that for this, LIC has currently launched a chair with INR 1 crore.
