GATE 2025 Exam Day Guidelines: Important Instructions, Admit Card Download, and Last-Minute Preparation Tips

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 is set to take place on February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025. With the exam approaching, candidates must be aware of the essential guidelines issued by the conducting authority, IIT Roorkee, to ensure a smooth examination experience. The exam will be conducted in two shifts: Morning (9:30 AM – 12:30 PM) and Afternoon (2:30 PM – 5:30 PM). • A hard copy of the GATE 2025 admit card, released on January 7, 2025.
• A valid photo ID proof (Aadhar card, driving license, passport, PAN card, etc.).
• The photograph on the admit card and ID proof must be clearly visible. If not, candidates should carry two passport-size photographs.

Know Your Exam Center & Timing

• The exam timings and dates have been officially announced.
• Candidates must reach the exam center well in advance to avoid last-minute hassles.
• Latecomers (more than 30 minutes after the exam starts) will not be allowed to log in.

Prohibited Items Inside the Exam Center

To maintain fairness and security, candidates must not carry:

• Electronic devices (mobile phones, smartwatches, earphones, calculators, etc.).
• Jewelry, accessories, bags, and personal belongings.
• Only the required documents and a pen are allowed.

Familiarize Yourself with the Virtual Calculator

An on-screen virtual scientific calculator will be provided during the exam. Candidates should practice using the virtual calculator during mock tests to avoid confusion.

Safety and Conduct Guidelines

• Candidates must carry a face mask, transparent water bottle, and hand sanitizer.
• Candidates must occupy their allotted seats at least 40 minutes before the exam.
• Login and instructions review must begin 20 minutes before the exam starts.
• No early exits are allowed before the exam ends, without invigilator permission.
