GIMS has also announced that it will be discontinuing the four courses under DNB except DNB in Radiology.

New Delhi: Govenment Institute of Medical Science (GIMS) has declared that it is going to offer admission to 14 new Post Graduate Medical Courses from the next academic session. The new courses will be introduced in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) Departments, GIMS.
Medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, community medicine, anesthesia, ENT, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, anatomy, microbiology, and orthopedic are the fourteen specialisations in the new courses will be conducted.
GIMS has added 70 seats for admission to these courses and 29 faculty members have been recruited. The university expects NMC to inspect the ‘faculty and infrastructural condition’ for setting up these courses by the end of 2023.

“In the last three years, the number of patients has increased four times. We need to focus on speciality areas in GIMS now, hence we are starting the PG courses. Through the NEET exam next year, we expect to take admission in the PG courses,” Rakesh Gupta, director of GIMS, said.
He also added that GIMS DNB (Diplomate National Board) Program will be discontinued from the next academic session. “Except for radiology, all other four courses of DNB will be stopped from next year, instead, the MD/MS courses will be started,” said Gupta.

GIMS is also constructing a new nursing college which is expected to start functions from December 2023. University officials have confirmed that classes will be held in the basement classrooms till the new building starts operations. In due course, the classes will be shifted to the new building.
“A fund of Rs 21 crore has been sanctioned for the same. Initially, there will be four classrooms, six laboratories, and other facilities at the nursing college,” the director added.
