Haryana Board decided to reduce the course syllabus for Class 9-12 to cope with the shortened academic year due to the ongoing after ICSE and CBSE boards.
Haryana Minister of Education Kanwar Pal has asked BSEH to set up a panel to investigate curtailing the current course syllabus for the students for the current academic session.
Following the closure of schools for nearly three months now in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak and the following lockdown, the decision to curtail the syllabus for Haryana Board 9th to 12th Class students has been taken.
The lockdown also disrupted the ongoing board exams for HBSE 10th and 12th Students 2020 and also caused a significant delay in reporting results.
SCERT Panel Appointed for Reduction in Syllabus
The Minister of State Education has asked Haryana Board to appoint a panel of experts in consultation with the State Council for Educational Research and Training, Gurgaon, to work out methods for syllabus reduction.
State Education Minister, speaking to reporters in Yamunanagar, said that with the situation surrounding the pandemic becoming more serious with an increasing number of cases across the country, it seems that the schools and educational institutions could also remain closed for the coming weeks.
In such a light, syllabus rationalization will help ease the students ' mental burden and pressure on the current academic year and help them to better cope with their studies.
Tablet Computers for Students Likely
Addressing the issue of online education accessibility gap among state students, the education minister said he is aware of the problems faced by students from marginalized communities.
In line with this, the government of the state contemplates giving tablets (computers) to students from government schools classes 9th to 12th.
Students will be able to make better use of the online learning facilities with tablet computers and cope with the distance study model that was enforced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also added, however, that any final decision regarding the distribution of tablets to students will be taken in the light of the economic situation of the state
