New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore is preparing to open its latest sustainability lab on-site with the focus on supply chain management. The lab is currently being established in collaboration with the Transport Corporation of India (TCI) and will serve as a crucial resource.
It will be officially unveiled on April 28, 2023, on the IIM Bangalore campus, at 4 PM by Devi Prasad Shetty, head of the IIM-Bangalore Board of Governors, in the midst of IIM-Bangalore Director Rishikesha T Krishnan and TCI Managing Director Vineet Aggarwal.
Based on a statement from IIM-Bangalore, the official launch will also mark the introduction of an online tool as well, that will be accessible to all carriers and shippers, for calculating the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions via freight shipping.
This resource encompasses all kinds of transportation, including land, air, and sea. In future versions, it will be offered in various Indian languages. The research facility will function as a venue for scholars, students, and academics to work together, create and exchange knowledge, and advance supply chain sustainable practices.
In addition, it will offer learners avenues to gain hands-on experience by means of internships, research projects, and other programs. By means of research and consultancy services, the TCI-IIMB SCSL seeks to improve sustainable supply chain management throughout India.
The lab plans on doing research on subjects such as decarbonization, the circular economy, and green purchasing, as well as publishing white papers on sustainable supply chain administration.
It intends to offer consulting services about carbon mapping, measurements, prevention, and administration. In addition, it intends to offer certification and evaluation services, including vendor sustainability assessment.
