Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ranchi organised a three-day Young Changemakers Programme (YCP) as a Strategic Priority.

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ranchi supported positive development and social transformation. In this direction, IIM Ranchi students actively participated in projects for rural development. As part of their Social Impact Internship Project (SIIP), they promoted development in the rural communities adopted by IIM Ranchi under the Unnat-Bharat Abhiyan Mission.
As part of its strategic strategy, IIM Ranchi@2030, IIM Ranchi has launched its ground-breaking "Young Change Makers Programme" (YCP). The three-day long program was held from May 26, 2023 (Friday).
The youthful generation, who will have a real social impact and run organisations with a global vision and local responsiveness, was the program's target audience. The Rural Immersion Bootcamp, a cutting-edge three-day curriculum run by the YCP, uses a live-case learning methodology to provide students the chance to tour tribal villages, understand their issues, and collectively come up with solutions.
The direct exposure aims to improve participants' awareness of significant issues, empathy, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. It also helps participants come up with original and workable solutions and facilitates their implementation for the benefit of the tribal communities.
This program's objective was to arm students with the resources they need to become change agents, take action, and genuinely alter the course of events. Participants were encouraged to go beyond their own experiences and were motivated to think compassionately and objectively about the needs of others. During orientation on the first day of the bootcamp, the students learned about social work and volunteering.
They also learnt about the challenges faced by rural communities, socioeconomic concerns, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, as well as how they may contribute to a change. The Professors and Specialists who have been working on this front for years led the sessions.
The students also had the opportunity to grasp the principles of social entrepreneurship from IIM academics. The discussions about tried-and-true techniques for bringing about change had a profoundly transformative impact on them, inspiring them to become change-agents and have a long-lasting impact.
The students' most exciting day was the second, when they visited a remote tribal settlement and engaged with the inhabitants. They took part in a variety of activities, such as cultural contact and group discussions targeted at identifying important difficulties and barriers in the real world. On the third day, the students worked together to develop practical and unique answers to some of the social issues they had observed in the community.
Additionally, they had the option to present their ideas to a panel of experts and well-known citizens, and they received input on their thoughts. On the basis of their viability, importance, and scalability, their speeches were assessed. The students also had the opportunity to reflect on their experiences and the lessons they had learned throughout the programme.
The top participants in the programme received the Programme Laureate Certificate. IIM Ranchi acknowledges that effective leadership in today's internationally linked society requires an understanding of and ability to adapt to a variety of cultural contexts.
With the help of the Rural Immersion Bootcamp, we seek to improve our cross-cultural competence and prepare ourselves to lead with compassion and inclusivity everywhere in the globe. The bootcamp gave participants the chance to collaborate closely with competent professors and corporate executives who will serve as their mentors and advisers along the road.
Additionally, they collaborated with other participants to come up with unique solutions to the issues that rural communities face. Even after the internship, IIM Ranchi will continue to work to raise the socioeconomic standing of the Rasabeda locals. The Rural Immersion Bootcamp is open to students in grades 10 through 12. Registration for the programme has already begun.
Students had the ability to travel from the page to the real world, confront barriers, and overcome problems while making a genuine difference for real people in real-time. This was an opportunity for practical and transformative learning for them. The advancement of the tribal settlements' development was the sole purpose of the event's revenues.
