The Indian Institute of Management in Ranchi has finished reviewing its course curriculum for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, as a part of its strategic plan called 'IIM Ranchi@2030'.

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi has recently completed the comprehensive review process of its course curriculum for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. As part of its strategic plan, 'IIM Ranchi@2030', the institute conducted a thorough evaluation of its courses.

As part of its strategic plan, known as 'IIM Ranchi@2030', the institute recognized the need to continuously evolve its educational offerings to stay relevant in a rapidly changing world. To achieve this, they undertook a meticulous evaluation of their courses, aiming to incorporate the latest developments and trends in both the industry and society.

According to a statement by IIM Ranchi, the curriculum of the second year has been updated with elective courses instead of compulsory ones. This change allows students to choose electives from various study areas throughout the three terms of the second year. In addition, the flexibility of mid-term examinations has been increased to grant more academic freedom to faculty members.

This change is intended to inspire faculty members to introduce fresh and innovative courses that align with the demands of the industry.

IIM Ranchi to Include a Compulsory Course on ‘Tribes in India’

IIM Ranchi has also decided to include a course on ‘tribes in India’ in its curriculum with the aim to include ‘ local tribal language’ as part of an elective language course. In addition to this, the electives course will have ‘Enrichment Electives’ which will help students develop a perspective into theatre, arts etc.

The compulsory electives will be courses on ‘Tribes in India’ and ‘Science of Happiness’ among others. Informing about the changes, the officials shared, "The compulsory courses of the undergraduate part of the IPM has also undergone a sea change with new courses like Science of Happiness, Sustainability, Social Work, and Tribes in India”.

“This will be done with the aim to provide a holistic learning experience of important life skills while also connecting them to the roots. Students also have the possibility to learn a local tribal language in the language elective course scheduled in the second year”, the officials added.

In its statement, the institute highlighted that students are expected to gain advantages from these elective courses by exploring new areas and establishing a distinctive expertise, which would enhance their employability.

Further, the institute believes that these courses will enable students to broaden their horizons and carve out a unique path for themselves, while also acquiring valuable skills and knowledge that will make them more desirable to potential employers.

The completion of the course curriculum review marks a crucial milestone for IIM Ranchi in its pursuit of delivering top-notch education that prepares students for the evolving industry landscape.
