What did the Shri Anil Joshi address at IIM Ranchi Global Edition of Young Changemakers Program?
Shri Joshi's address stressed the importance of sustainable resource management, drawing attention to the risks associated with shortsighted exploitation. He critiqued existing practices that contribute to soil degradation, water depletion, and pollution, advocating for an ecological growth measure comparable to GDP to promote sustainable development.
In his speech, Mr. Joshi highlighted the immediate need for responsible resource utilization, pointing out the shortcomings of human intelligence that often exploits resources without acknowledging their interconnectedness with nature.
Expressing concern about prevailing practices leading to soil degradation, water depletion, and pollution, he attributed these challenges to the commodification of natural resources and the unequal distribution exacerbating the issues.
Moreover, he highlighted the necessity for a change in economic assessment, proposing an ecological growth measure named GEP (Gross Ecological Product) as an alternative to GDP, serving as a metric for sustainable development.
During his speech, Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava enlightened the audience about the unique nature of the YCP program and expressed his aspiration to witness its flourishing growth in the future.

He commended the Prime Minister's efforts in upholding the rich tapestry of Indian culture, underscoring the significance of preserving and cherishing these foundational principles deeply embedded in their heritage.
