The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong, has been adhering to the NEP 2020 especially in regard to the admission process, keeping in mind the interdisciplinary management education.

New Delhi: In a significant move towards aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP), the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong has announced that it is steadfastly adhering to the admission norms outlined in the policy. IIM-Shillong has committed to bringing the NEP admission norms as a testament to its dedication to creating a transformative educational experience for its students.

Starting from the admission process, the institutes ensure that students from diverse fields join the flagship MBA program. As per the report in admission 2023, which shows that around 40% of students are engineers, and the rest 60% are non-engineers from different streams such as science, humanities, commerce, pharmacy, and medical graduates.
According to the mandate of NEP, IIM Shillong’s online executive MBA program offers a specialized format designed for working professionals which benefits them with valuable skills, knowledge, and leadership capabilities in a flexible online learning format

A note issued from the institute where mentioned: “Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for policy research and Analysis and Centre for Development of Northeast Region (CeDNER) were fostering a research-oriented culture within the institution, encouraging faculty and students to engage in research projects, innovation, and entrepreneurial activities within the northeast region”.
Annually, the institute provides over 80 elective courses, empowering students to tailor their academic path and cater to their diverse interests, learning preferences, and professional aspirations.

“The community immersion module of IIM-Shillong refers to an experiential learning approach that involves actively engaging with and immersing students within the specific community and or social context. This system allows students to directly interact, observe and participate in the daily lives, practices, and challenges of the community” the statement said.
The statement also added that Through community immersion students gain a deeper understanding of the community’s culture, values, needs, and strengths and get improved critical thinking and problem-solving approaches. It also gives an opportunity to collaborate with community members, organizations, and stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions and create a positive social impact.
