New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Visakhapatnam has organised a two-day international marketing conference ‘Vipanan 2023’ on May 6th at its campus. The theme of the two-day conference at IIM Visakhapatnam was ‘Marketing 5.0– Inroads to Technology and Sustainability’.

According to the IIMV officials, the idea underlying the value of developing deep connections with clients, utilising technology to customise experiences, and integrating sustainable practises into business practises. The chief guest of the conference was Prof. Ramendra Singh from IIM Calcutta.

The conference's theme is apt at this time because technology is changing how marketers engage and connect with consumers. Artificial intelligence and machine learning are currently being used to provide personalised communication with an emphasis on social responsibility and sustainable practices.

The hybrid conference aimed to promote fruitful discussion in both modern business fields and marketing theory. The conference had an engaging lineup of presentations of current, thoroughly researched papers. The two-day conference commenced with the inaugural event on May 5, 2023 and the chief guest and keynote speaker, Prof. Ramendra Singh, IIM Calcutta, discussed the evolution of Marketing to Marketing 5.0 and the diversity of Indian consumers along with the difference in preference for different generations.

According to Prof. Ramendra Singh, more than half of the world does not use technology, which presents marketers with an opportunity to connect with them in a novel way. Regarding consumers at the bottom of the food chain, Prof. Singh emphasised the necessity for Marketing 5.0 to comprehend and specifically address the issues unique to the urban and rural groups.

Speaking during the event, Prof. Chandrasekhar, Director, IIMV, said that the marketers must comprehend how consumer behaviour is changing and stay up with technological advancements. However, students and academics from all over India presented interesting research on the first day of the conference. The conference's educational presentation session from the first day was carried over to the second day.

During the second day, Prof. Balaji Makam, a professor at the Rennes School of Business in Rennes, France, gave a thought-provoking presentation. He spoke on how artificial intelligence may improve customer experience and how businesses can overcome difficulties encountered when implementing AI. Prof. Balaji stressed the significance of resolving the personalization-privacy issue and utilising the consumer journey's touch points to assist the decrease customer churn.

Prof. Shiv Shankar Patel spoke about the importance of being vigilant about sustainability, teamwork, and conflict on both a macro and micro level during the valedictory. The 2nd-day conference concluded with the participants being celebrated for their presentations.
