New Delhi: Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Visakhapatnam collaborates with NIT Warangal and Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kurnool, to launch an MBA program for its BTech/MTech students.
Informing about this initiative, NIT Warangal Director Prof Bidyadhar Subudhi and IIITDM Kurnool Director Prof DVLN Somayajulu explained how techno-managerial skills have recently become more critical for different job roles.
IIM Visakhapatnam Director Prof M Chandrasekhar said that the MBA program will be offered in a hybrid mode. It will equip students with technical proficiency needed in a centrally funded technical institution, strategic thinking and leadership qualities essential for managerial posts.
This is the first such initiative from centrally funded institutions of Telugu, particularly from an IIM. This 2-year hybrid MBA Program in Management for Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (PGPMCI) would admit BTech students in their 6th semester and MTech students in their 2nd semester.

The program would impart managerial skills to admitted candidates lacking core technical skills before enrolling, and further improve their employment and higher education prospects. As the industries increasingly opt for people with both skills, this would give them an advantage in the job market.
Professor Subudhi and Professor Somayajulu said that the program aims to offer the best learning experience to students by integrating engineering competencies with management skills.

Prof. Somayajulu added, "This collaboration may lead to several such new courses between these institutes in the future and may serve as a role model for other institutions in the country. When this initiative was explained to the authorities during the recent meeting on the progress of the new education policy, this has drawn wide appreciation."
