Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) has released a notification that states that the students staying at the campus hostel will be allowed to stay until the end of examinations.
Earlier the institute had asked students to vacate the premises, against which a petition was filed by the students demanding the university to revoke the order.
IIMC also clarified that the notice will remain effective for those who have already vacated the hostels. The second semester/final exams will be conducted from June 22, 2020 to June 29, 2020.
As soon as the exams are concluded. The students have to immediately vacate the hostel premises.
The Delhi High Court heard the petition filed by 5 students asking to revoke the institute order, which asks the students to vacate the hostels by June 3, 2020, despite the fact that exams are to be conducted soon.
The hearing conducted via Video Conferencing, the judge recorded the statement made by the counsel representing IIMC Institute.
Earlier on June 8, 2020, the Delhi High Court directed the authorities not to act against the students as per the order issued to vacate the hostel space, till June 15, 2020.
As per the petition filed by the students, the exams for diploma courses are about to start and the notice released by the university was bad in law for want of Jurisdiction and Abuse of Discretion.
