New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) is inviting applications for admission to its PhD and Research Program for the academic session 2024-25. Interested candidates can apply through the official website acsir. res.in/admissions till April 30, 2024.

IIA offers Ph.D. admission for specializations such as the sun and the solar system objects, stellar physics, interstellar medium, compact objects, star clusters, extragalactic astronomy, theoretical astrophysics, and astronomical instrumentation.
According to the schedule released, the interview process for the selection of candidates for final admission will be conducted from May 20 to July 5, 2024. The result will be declared on July 12, 2024. The classes are expected to begin in August 2024.

Who is Eligible for IIA PhD Admission 2024?
To be eligible to apply for PhD Admission at IIA, you must have an MSc or Integrated MSc in Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics, Astronomy, Electronics, Photonics, and Optics.
Those with ME or MTech and Integrated ME or MTech in Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Photonics, Optics, Opto-Electronics, Radio Physics & Electronics; and MPhil in Applied Physics, Instrumentation, Photonics, Optics, Physics can also apply for the Ph.D. program.

- Visit the official website, acsir.res.in/admissions
- Click on the AcSIR online admission portal
- Click on the new use signup and complete the application form
- No login using email and password and enter the details
- Submit the fee and download the application form.
Ques: What is the Application Fee for IIA PhD Admission 2024?
Ans: Students will have to submit a registration fee of INR 1,000. However, those belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories will have to pay a registration fee of INR 500.
Ques: What after IIA PhD Admission?
Ans: Selected students will be initially offered a junior research fellowship (JRF). After two years as a JRF, you will be offered a senior research fellowship (SRF) after an assessment. The total duration of the fellowship may not exceed five years, inclusive of the one-year coursework.
