New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Interim Education Budget 2024 on February 1, 2024, ahead of the general elections in April-May 2024. In the 2024 budget, the ministry has allocated a budget of INR 124638 Crore to Education Ministry departments.
The Finance Ministry shared that the Department of School Education and Literacy has increased its budget by INR 4203.25 Crore, to INR 73008.10 Crore in 2024. The Department of Higher Education is also allotted a budget of INR 47619.77 Crore.
In addition to this, the budget allotted for Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN) is recorded at INR 12467 Crore and PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) budget allocation increased by INR 2050 Crore, i.e. to INR 6050 Crore in 2024.
