According to statistics available from JoSAA, top-rank holders of JEE Advanced 2023 have chosen Computer Science at IIT Bombay as their first preference. Check details here!

New Delhi: As per the data released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority, top-rank holders of JEE Advanced 2023 have chosen Computer Science at IIT Bombay as their first preference for admissions. After IIT Bombay, the most preferred IITs are IIT Delhi, Kanpur and Madras.
The top 10 All India Rankers in JEE Advanced 2023 have opted for IIT Bombay and out of the top 50 rank holders, 37 candidates have selected IIT Bombay as their first preference. Earlier, the JoSAA 2023 Round 1 seat allotment result was declared on June 30, 2023.
Following the data, 23 have opted for IIT Delhi out of top 100 rank holders. While for IIT Kanpur, a total of 50 candidates have selected the institute as their first choice out of top 500 rank holders. The highest number of applicants has been received for the CS domain.

Referring to the data, IIT Bombay Deputy Director S Sudarshan said, "We are happy that students see IIT Bombay as their preferred campus to pursue their undergraduate studies. We are in the process of upgrading our infrastructure".
“In the next two years or so, we will open three new hostels with over 3,300 rooms. Additionally, we are constantly revamping our curricula to stay updated and relevant. The various departments and schools at IIT-B are ranked among the top in the world”, he further added.

For the first round of admission, candidates have also opted for IIT Kharagpur, Roorkee and Hyderabad. Computer science (50 Lakh choices) remains the first choice of applicants, followed by electronics and communication engineering (35 Lakh choices) and mechanical engineering (22 Lakh).
However, the electrical engineering domain dropped to fifth position this year with 16 lakh choices, compared to the second most popular stream till session 2022-23. In the list, a total of 10 lakh choices were filled for chemical engineering.
Talking about the applications, IIT Bombay Director Subhasis Chaudhuri said, "IIT-Bombay tries to meet the aspirations of India's talented youth and challenges them to bring out their best. From giving them all the facilities to providing the right guidance, from accessing top class education to getting the right platform, students know their investment of four or five years at IITB will take them to the next level".
For this year, a total of 2.2 lakh applicants have registered for the seat allocation process through JEE Advanced Counselling 2023. For this year, a total of 57,152 seats will be allotted to applicants in JEE-participating colleges, including IITs, NITs and IIEST Shibpur, etc.
