New Delhi: JIPMER has released the prospectus for the INI CET 2024 January 2024 session. The prospectus highlights the seat distribution for several PG Medical Courses.

What are JIPMER Admission Rules Based on INI CET 2024?

JIPMER does not follow a department-wise reservation system. Candidates applying for admission as sponsored/deputed candidates must meet specific conditions certified by their sponsoring/deputing Authority/Employer for admission to the allotted course. 

The prospectus has outlined that the submission of the scanned copy of the sponsorship certificate is a mandatory requirement. The sponsorship certificate is required to include the following declaration by the sponsoring authority:

  • Confirmation that the candidate is a permanent or regular employee of the deputing/sponsoring authority and has been in service for a minimum of three years (as of December 31, 2023, for the January 2024 session).
  • Assurance that upon completing training at JIPMER, Puducherry, the candidate will be appropriately employed by the deputing/sponsoring authority, committing to serve for at least five years in the specialty for which the candidate received training at JIPMER. 
  • JIPMER, Puducherry, will not bear any financial obligations, such as emoluments/stipends, throughout the entire duration of the candidate's course; such payments are the responsibility of the sponsoring authority.

Selection Process for Sponsored Candidates

  • Sponsored/deputed candidates must participate in the common entrance examination. Separate merit lists will be created for sponsored candidates in each specified discipline. Upon selection for admission to a JIPMER Course, these candidates must arrange their own accommodation during the course duration.
  • Sponsored candidates admitted to the program will have a one-month period to provide Sponsorship/Relieving Letter/Study leave/NOC certificates from the date of the respective counselling results announcement. No additional extension will be granted under any circumstances.

Selection Process for Foreign National Candidates

  • Foreign National applicants must submit their applications through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi. All Foreign Nationals are obligated to register their MBBS Degree with the Medical Council of their respective countries and obtain prior permission from the National Medical Commission/Medical Council of India before seeking admission to postgraduate courses at the Institute. An advance copy must be submitted with the INI-CET notification. 
  • The selection will be based on merit, considering their performance in the entrance examination. Separate merit lists will be established for each specified discipline for foreign national candidates. If selected, candidates should apply for temporary registration with the National Medical Commission/Medical Council of India for the duration of their postgraduate study.

JIPMER Admission Process 2024 For Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)

  • OCI registered candidates under section 7A of the Citizenship Act, 1955, are eligible to apply. All terms and conditions outlined in this Prospectus will apply to OCI Registered Candidates.
  • Candidates must upload their OCI card during the online application process, and the same should be submitted at the time of counselling.
  • The OCI candidates will be eligible for consideration only for the seats specified in Prospectus Part-A (as applicable).

Eligibility Criteria for Overseas Citizens of India to Apply for JIPMER Admission 2024

MDS Courses

Candidates applying for MDS courses must hold a BDS degree from a University recognized by the Dental Council of India.

Candidates should have completed the mandatory 12 months' compulsory rotatory internship/practical training on or before January 31, 2024. Condonation of the Compulsory Rotating Internship will not be accepted.

JIPMER INI CET 2024 Counselling Details

  • The list of candidates qualifying for counselling will be accessible on the website after the result declaration.
  • Counselling, including the final counselling, will adhere to the category rank (UR/INST/OBC/SC/ST/EWSs/PwBD) based on the Dynamic Roster Point allocation method (refer to Annexure I). For the January 2024 session, counselling will commence from Roster point 52 (OBC-14).
  • The Reservation Roster Allocation method will not apply to MDS course seats, integrated 6-year MCh course seats, seats reserved for the Sponsored category, and seats reserved for the Foreign National category. These seats will be allotted solely based on merit.
  • Seat allotment through the Dynamic Roster Point Allocation system follows a process where, aside from the use of Dynamic Roster Points, there is no specialty/course-wise reservation at JIPMER. All seats at JIPMER are available to all candidates based on their rank and seat availability at any Roster point where the candidate has the opportunity to select a seat.

Documents Required for JIPMER Admission 2024

During admission, the candidate's biometric fingerprint/iris scan and image verifications will be conducted on the joining day. In the event of any mismatch, the candidate will be prohibited from attending counselling, and appropriate legal action may be taken by the institution.

The candidate is required to submit the following certificates in their original form along with one set of self-attested copies - 

  • Hall Ticket.
  • Rank letter.
  • Certificate displaying the date of birth (Birth Certificate/SSLC mark List).
  • MBBS Mark Statement for MD/MS/6-year MCh courses and BDS Mark Statement for MDS courses.
  • Internship Completion Certificate.
  • Conduct Certificate acquired from the Institute last attended.
  • Transfer (OR) Migration Certificate received from the Institute last studied.
  • MBBS Degree or Provisional Pass certificate for MD/MS/6-year MCh courses and BDS Degree or Provisional Pass certificate.
  • MBBS/BDS Permanent/Provisional Medical/Dental Registration certificate.
  • Residence certificate issued by Revenue Authority not below the rank of Tehsildar or AADHAR card or Voter ID or Passport copy.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate.
  • For Other Backward Classes/Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes, a Community Certificate recently obtained from the competent authority – a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates should present the required certificate in the format provided in Annexure –II.
  • Schedule Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) candidates should provide the necessary certificate in the format specified in Annexure –III.
  • Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) candidates must furnish the required Income and Asset Certificate as per the format in Annexure –IV.

Note: It is compulsory for all candidates to be physically present in person for admission. Requests for an authorised representative on behalf of the candidate will not be entertained. Failure to appear for admission in person will result in the candidate being marked as absent, leading to the cancellation of admission.

Upon securing admission to JIPMER in either the first or second round of counselling, if a candidate participates and secures a seat in any INI (including JIPMER) during the open round/on-the-spot counselling, they are subject to a mid-stream departure penalty.
