KEA Likely to Conduct One More Round of KCET Counselling to Fill Vacant Engineering Seats; Check Details Here

New Delhi: Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is considering conducting one more round of counselling for Karnataka CET candidates to fill vacant seats available for engineering courses in the state. The counselling process will be held in offline mode for eligible candidates.

As per the data shared by KEA, a total of 58,000 of the 68,000 seats were filled during the KCET 2023 Counselling rounds. For this session, the number of candidates who are allotted seats in KCET participating colleges is higher than last year’s data.`

Informing about the KCET Counselling 2023 process, Ramya S, Executive Director of KEA said, "Last year, around 50,000 students joined the colleges. This time, of the 58,000, we are expecting at least 55,000 students to report to colleges”.

"Still, 10,000 seats are vacant. If they are from streams which are not in demand, then we might not hold another round. But if there are seats lying vacant in streams that are in huge demand, we will give students another chance. They can walk in and choose a seat," she further added.

To ensure that no seats are vacant for engineering courses in Karnataka colleges, the KEA has filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court to request an extension of the last date for admission to engineering courses to October 15, 2023.

Earlier, the last date to apply for admission was set to September 15, 2023. Classes for candidates who were allotted seats have already begun. For more information about the counselling process, visit the official website of KEA at cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/.
