Media and Entertainment Skills Council All Set to Train 1000 People Under the Archival Conservator Program

New Delhi: On March 22, 2024, an Archival Conservator Program was launched by the Media and Entertainment Skills Council (MESC) to teach 1000 people how to rehabilitate and digitize ancient documents

The program, supported by the National Archives of India (NAI), will include 90 hours of practical, hands-on learning about restoration and digitization techniques and the efficient management of data.

The NAI is planning to systematically repair and digitize 2.25 crore bits of data in their storage over the next two years. The new archivists that will come out of this program can help contribute to this massive digitization process. Many of the documents are still incredibly important and relevant to Indian cultural praxis, and decoding and digitally saving such texts will surely serve the national greater good.
