NMC's decision to reschedule the NEET PG 2024 has spread discontent among students nationwide as it was abrupt and confusing for the students.

NEET PG 2024 Exam Preponed to June 23rd: Students Express Frustration

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has moved up the exam date for NEET PG 2024 to June 23, 2024 due to the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. Earlier, the NEET PG 2024 Exam was scheduled for July 7, 2024

According to the revised schedule, the NEET PG 2024 result will be announced by July 15, 2024. The Counselling session will be conducted from August 5- October 15, 2024. 

The decision to prepone the NEET PG 2024 Exam was taken in a meeting held by the Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB), Directorate General for Health Sciences and National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences, and National Medical Commission with the Medical Counselling Committee.

NMC has also announced that the cut-off date for the internship completion to be eligible to appear for NEET PG 2024 is August 15, 2024. 

The sudden change in the exam date has raged discontentment among the students who have taken to different social media platforms to express their grievances. Numerous students are questioning the reasoning behind this decision, while others are expressing concerns about its potential impact on students currently preparing for the medical examination. 

One of the NEET PG 2024 Aspirant took to X and expressed, “Preponing the exam is worse than postponing it ! Policy makers might not care about it, but it impacts the futures of thousands of doctors ! #NEETPG.”

Expressing concerns about the advancement regarding the NEET PG 2024 examination, Adv Anubha Shrivastava Sahai, an advocate and child rights activist wrote, “NMC took survey of students and kept the NEET PG 2024 exam in July to accommodate more students. We supported their stand. Students were also happy after this decision. But now the exam is rescheduled to June and students are again disturbed.”

The All India Students’ Dental Association also wrote,” The #NMC initially scheduled the #NEETPG2024 exam in July to accommodate more students, a decision we endorsed. This brought relief to students. However, the sudden rescheduling to June caused distress among students leaving us puzzled about reasons behind these frequent changes.”

As per speculations, the registration process for NEET PG 2024 will begin soon. The NEET PG application process takes about a month to complete, followed by an edit window and availability of the admit cards.
