Controversy Over NEET UG 2024 Result
Some claim that NTA intentionally declared the NEET results on June 4, 2024, coinciding with the Lok Sabha elections, to avoid re-conducting the examination.

Several social media posts are spread such as the number of top rankers with AIR 1, scores of 718 and 719, eight toppers from a single exam center, and the implementation of a normalisation criterion for the first time have led to widespread shock and discussion.

SC Decision on Re-Conduct of NEET 2024
These controversies have led to widespread speculation about a possible NEET 2024 re-exam. Multiple petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court demanding a re-examination due to allegations of paper leaks.
While the Supreme Court has declined to delay the announcement of results, it has agreed to review the case and has issued a notice on the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a re-conduct of the NEET UG exam.
Instances of NEET 2024 Controversies
The following scams have been reported by various candidates regarding NEET 2024:
- More students in Rank 1: For the first time in history, 67 students scored 720 marks and achieved AIR 1 in the NEET exam. Eight of these top-scoring students are from the same examination center in Haryana. This information reveals that there might be a paper leak.

- NEET Cheating Scam Before exam: Just two days before the NEET exam, Parshuram Roy, owner of a foreign education consultancy, and Tushar Bhatt, a school teacher, were accused of receiving INR 10 lakh from at least 16 students from Gujarat to fraudulently pass the exam.
- Earlier release of NEET 2024 Result: An expert said, “Had the result been declared as per the scheduled date, the NEET result 2024 scam would have got a lot more attention from the media, but due to the Lok Sabha election, most of the media houses didn’t bother about the NEET scam 2024”.
- NEET Normalisation method and uneven marks: Another controversy arose regarding the irregular marks of some candidates. Many have scored between 718 and 719 due to grace marks in NEET 2024, which is highly unusual given the NEET exam marking scheme.
